Not finishing them off? I know they need to live for the story to happen but I hope that's not the only reason. I'll trust she has a good reason for not taking their lives here. Villains often make the mistake of sparing the hero only to get stopped later. I really hope there's more to it than that. Sorry if it sounds like I'm whining but I'm simply writing my experience as I read.
