Spring break
Spring break. The week that everyone wants to come when we start school. The week that I dread. I go home and it’s all just fighting, non-stop. I've never had anyone over at my house except for kyle. He already has divorced parents and lives with his mom, Kiko. They live right next to us. When my parents are having their usual weekend yelling brawl, Kiko and Kyle are usually outside of my bedroom window to let me come over and hang out. It's been
As we were walking to my house,
“Hey, Exer.” He said. “Where are you going? We're heading to my house. Didn’t your mom tell you?”
“What thing?” I asked, “You know, this week you’re hanging out with me and mom?”
When he said that sentence my brain went on a total shutdown. “Hangout?” I said under my breath.
“Yeah, the movie marathon at my place during spring break, didn’t your parents tell you? My mom asked your mom last week to hang out with us for spring break. When my mom told your mom, she packed all your stuff for the week and dropped it off at my place.”
“Well, that's where my dino hoodie went then” I responded, under my breath.
“Don’t worry, you won't have to hear from your parents this week.” He told me with a reassuring smile patting my head.
I turned my head and started blushing. I leaned into him and gave him a hug. We started walking again and were about 4 blocks away from our neighborhood when we turned the corner and were stopped by Jace, a kid from school.
“Well well well, look what we have here boys.” He gestured to his friends hiding in bushes to surround us. “The nobody and the fag boy. Where are freckles and a loud mouth?”
