Fess up

I heard Kiko rushing over, with a bottle of ibuprofen. 

“Can you sit up please and take these Exer?” She asked me. 

I managed to sit up and take the pills.

“Now, can someone please tell me what happened to you two?” Kiko asked, looking at us.

Kyle and I sat there in silence avoiding eye contact with one another.

“Am I just going to assume that you two beat each other up, or what?” Kiko asked in an annoyed tone.

“NO!” We both yelled.”

“Then what happened?” She asked.

“A boy and his goons from school cornered us to pick on us.” I started

“And I may have said some things that made him even angrier. He beat me up and went to Exer next. He was saying something to him that wouldn't be forgiven.” He finished.

“Well did you at least put a bruise or two on him?” Kiko asked.

“Um, Kyle kicked him in the gut before he beat us up,” I told her.

“Well it completely failed, I can see. Who was this boy anyways? I’m gonna have to report this to the office.

Kyle and I looked at each other nervously and didn't say anything.

“You are going to tell me sooner or later, and if it's later this She/They will turn those brats into a Were/Was.” 

We both started laughing at her joke.

Kyle put his hand on my leg and asked. “How are you feeling?” 

“A little dizzy, but fine. Have you seen my glasses though, I can’t really see.” I said laughing a little bit

“There on the coffee table.” He told me, pointing to the table.

Before I got up to get my glasses, he hugged me. He dug his head into my shoulder and started crying.

“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry. You, you shouldn’t have been involved in that. I'm sorry I couldn’t protect you. I’m a weak, dumb idiot. I’m sorry.” He cried, clenching onto my shirt.

I was shocked and sat there with him in my arms. I hugged him back, holding in my tears. Resting my head on his, comforting him. We stayed in that position for a while until his mom walked in.

“I took care of that. If those people mess with you two again, I can and I will get them expe-” She paused and backed out of the room slowly as Kyle sat up quickly.

“No no no. Continue what you were doing,” she said, going back into the kitchen.

The moment was ruined and it was really awkward when she walked back in.

“You were going to get your glasses?” Kyle asked.

“Oh, uh, right my glasses.” I shot up quickly and got my glasses.

The glasses had been taped up and one of the lenses was broken.

“I think your mom packed some extra glasses in your bag if you want to get them. They're in Kyle’s room. Why don’t you and Kyle get set up for the week in there, ok?”

“Ok but seriously, I need names,” she said with her parent tone.

We signed and Kyle said, “It was the principal's son, Jace Conilile.”

She paused with the phone in her hand processing what Kyle had just told her. She slowly turned her head towards me, wanting to verify his information. I looked away and nodded slowly. 

She let out a sigh and said. “Guess the kid took his mother's power to advantage, huh?” Trying to make us laugh, walking to the kitchen to make the phone call

Kyle and I wouldn’t make a sound or make eye contact. It was silent in the living room while Kiko was calling the office.
