It had been a couple of weeks since Eira planted the flowerbed in the man's garden. Every day, a couple of hours before dawn, she went to visit the man while tending to the plants. Despite the short time they had known each other and the catastrophic first meeting they had experienced, both had grown fond of each other. Proof of this was that the stubborn man began to bring snacks with him that he would occasionally give to the girl after finishing her work. Such was the occasion that day.
Eira was eating treats next to the man who was reading a book under the shade of a tree. She looked at the man for a second and seemed to realize something, she didn't know his name.
- Hey, what's your name?
The man glanced from the corner of his eye at her and seemed to meditate for a moment. He put his book aside and stroked her head, before gently pronouncing "Elijah". The girl smirked after hearing his response and finished her last snack before standing up from her spot.
- I have to go, I'll be back tomorrow, thanks for the snacks Elijah! - she said with a complicated expression.
Elijah took her arm carefully, placing his forehead on Eira's hand. She hesitated for a moment before asking him if something was wrong, he nodded. She turned her attention to him, who was staring at her sternly.
- Listen carefully to what I am about to tell you. Do not tell anyone about this place, and hide the fact that you are able to enter here. Also don't mention my existence to other humans, I told you my name because we'll be together for a long time, however, if someone finds out about all this you'll be in danger, especially if this someone is a nobleman. So be careful.
She swallowed hard after hearing Elijah's words. A million scenarios ran through her head, from a possible doom where she would end up as a slave or concubine of some noble, to a doom where she ended up being used as an object of research in the magical tower. Unconsciously she shivered. Elijah gave her a little tap on the forehead as he let out a small laugh and finally said goodbye to her, but not before reminding her that it would be okay if she kept the secret.
She crossed the portal, appearing in the orphanage's garden. Quietly entering the building through the back door, she pretended to have been in her room all that time, as she did every day.
A couple of hours later, Eira was cleaning the hallways. She scrubbed the floor vigorously, using a rag with soapy water. The other orphans passed indifferently through the hallway as she cleaned, some even kicked her, pretending they hadn't seen her. As a result, she worked two hours longer than planned. By the time she thought she had finished, a voice sounded behind her. She turned her head and looked at Robin standing against the wall as if he was waiting for her.
Eira has been tormented by the same dream for 7 years. A nightmare, where the hero of the prophecy betrays humanity. At least that's what she believed until a boy named Robin arrives at the orphanage where she lives and.... He turns out to be the hero of her dreams!
Now, she must prevent the hero's blackening and save the world before it's too late. Will it be too late to change her future or will she become his savior?
