This is me rationalizing my abusers behavior to not only myself but to others. She was known for her temper by all. People hated her. But not me. By the end of fourth grade, I could see no one else but her. She was misunderstood, needed help and love. I could give that to her. This being my first experience with friendship as close as this, my usefulness to others and alleviating their problems in any way they pleased would have permanently stunting effects on my brains growth.

"She wouldn't like you, I cant hang out with you."
"I cant call you, I have to be on call with her."
"We cant play, I have to walk with her."
"She's upset today, Im not really in the mood to talk."
"She's a bit mean but I understand where she comes from."

"Shes my only friend. I dont need anyone else."
