“ Mom, I'm home” I yell through the house.
“ Where have you been? Rose said you ran out of the house.” My mother says in her smooth glossy voice. People say my mother was pretty when she was a teenager and she is today. Aswell family members say I look exactly like her.
“ Oh, I had to meet someone at Starbucks.”
“It better not be a boy,” my father says in his low voice.
“ Maybe it is, maybe it isn't,” I say.
“ Daddy it's definitely a guy,” a squirrely voice says. It’s Rose, of course, getting into everyone's business. I give her the death stare.
“ How about tomorrow you bring him over for dinner,” says my mom.
“Yes, I would definitely love to meet him,” says my dad.
“ Me too,” Rose says.
“Okay I’ll text Jace asking if he will come over”
“ Is that his name, it sounds romantic, does he have a younger brother,” says Rose.
“ I don't know, we don't exactly talk about siblings. Also, aren't you dating Scott?” I say.
“ I broke up with him. He’s been doing so many stupid things lately” she says.
“ I'm glad you noticed,'' said dad. I laugh. Rose stares at me. I stick my tongue out and she rolls her eyes.
“ Girls don’t do that,” mom says.
“Hey, mom, what are we having for dinner?” I ask.
“ Just pizza I didn't want to cook tonight.” she laughs. I look at dad and he does nothing but looks at me back.
“ Mom I’m gonna go to my room, so see you later”
“ Rylee Madison Saged you will not leave because it is family time,” she says.
“ Well I might as well bring a board game for family night” I say.
“ Thanks for offering, can you get the game to beat the parents,” she says.
“ Mom, we have played that game a million times,” says Rose.
Ding dong. It's the doorbell. “I’ll get it,” I say.
I open the door and see Jace in a dominos uniform. I smile. “ Pizza for Sally Saged,” he says. It's Jace.
“ I never knew you worked for dominoes,” I say with a surprising town in my voice.
“ Honey, who is it at the door,” dad says.
“The pizza guy” I yell back. “ Hey, do you want to come in?” I asked.
“ Sure,” he says.
He walks into the house. I shut the door and led him upstairs. I see that everyone is looking at him. “What do I owe you?'' I ask.
“ $16.15,” he says. Mom walks up to me and gives him a 20 dollar bill.
“ Keep the change,” she says. She smiles her sweet smile.
Jace hands me the pizza and bows his head then leaves.
“ Now tell me who that was because it seemed like you knew him,” says dad.
“ Just a friend dad,'' I say. I put the pizzas on the counter and helped Rose set the tables. I grab the plates and glasses. I bring them over to the table and set them up.
I pull my seat out and sit down. Mom and dad walk over to the table with the pizza and sit down. “Now family let's eat” says dad.
