The Unblessed!

The Unblessed!

Sep 02, 2022

As if the unique art piece had just been introduced to the public, all eyes in the hall were judging me, determining whether I possessed the traits of a future king and whether they should support me or not in the future to obtain a good place in the kingdom.

Soon after we entered the banquet hall, Sir Alberezo Helerbard left me. I looked around for people I recognized in the throng, but while I recognized a few faces, I didn't know anyone in them. While I was looking about, my attention was caught by the beauty of the venue where my birthday banquet was being held.

The hall was painted white, with chandeliers strung over the ceiling every fifty feet. Curtains with mountain patterns on the blue cloth were designed to cover the hall's windows. Circular tables were positioned near the food section, with four chairs at each table for convenience, but no one ate at the time because it was typical for the banquet host to begin the banquets with birthday banquets.

I was the last person to enter the hall. My father and queen were standing together, arms linked, talking to Duke Marnes El Anges. Both the Duke and my father were dressed regally. The Queen donned a Tunic-colored gown. The first prince and second princess were also present to commemorate my birthday.

Everyone waited for me to begin the dinner; both the queen and her son looked daggers at me as I entered the hall as if I had come to plunder them. However, the princess paid little attention to me, as if I were invisible in her eyes.

I went to my mother after entering the celebration hall to ask if she would come to the stage with me and cut the celebratory cake for my birthday, but before I could say anything, my mother glared at me with her blue shining eyes, and there was no need for further dialogue. My mother's stare was an order to "walk onto the stage with father and queen mother."

Following my mother's implicit command, I approached my father and bowed respectfully to him, the queen, and others who were standing nearby.

"I'm here, Father."

“Ah! Amethyst, how have you been?"

"Dear, whatever happened to the youngster in the castle wall?"

She warned me not to tell anyone about the harassment she put us through. She had been harassing me and my mother for the past year to exact her wrath on us for the first prince's revocation of his crown prince status, even though my mother and I had no direct connection to the incident that resulted in the first prince Alfonso El Evanes’s revocation of his crown prince status. However, because the tragedy occurred in Kiezer duchy province, we had an indirect link.

The Duck Kiezer, only maternal relavtive my mother had left. After the war between the Evanescent kingdom and Empherem kingdom. The investigation launched by father with the royal decree showed the involvement of first prince in the conspiracy of The mana bomb that took the family my mother cherished. The Kiezer duchy shared territory with the Empherem kingdom, making the battle between kingdoms more disastrous for the duchy in particular.

I wanted to tell my father about the harassment and urge him to take action against the queen and first prince, but I couldn't because if I even uttered a word of rebuttal against the queen, she would make my mother suffer even more and my father would sit by idly because the queen belonged to the Elims duke family.

The Elims Duchy, one of the most powerful and influtential family, with nearly as much military strength and wealth as the royal family, and if the duke refuted the royal family, civil war would break out which my father and the kingdom could not afford when the other kingdoms were targeting us.

The Royal family's power has decreased dramatically over the last three generations. For over six decades, the family famed as dragon riders had no dragon in their possession. So, rather than saying anything needless, I did what I could at the time that would upset the queen: I gleamed at her and replied.

"Yes, Mother is correct, father, what can happen to me inside the walls of our city under your protection?"

Queen twitched slightly as she stared at me. Father grinned and added, "Enough with the compliments," before tapping my head and saying, "Let's take the stage, everyone has been waiting for your arrival."

"I understand, father."

The table and seats for each of us were already set up on the stage, but we didn't sit in them well since it was time for my father's speech, which, while not required, was protocol for aristocratic fathers to give speeches on their children's birthdays or marriages. We were standing on the stage, with my father to my left and the queen to my right. Father took a few steps forward and began speaking.

"Today I have brought you all here to celebrate the seventh anniversary and Omnisen ritual of my youngest son Amethyst, while I have not been present as much as a father should be for his son, I feel my son has grown into a lovely little lad, I know he has turned seven today, but the day of the seventh anniversary is not just for a birthday celebration, but it is a day that chooses one's destiny."

“Now,I will not waste any more time as we are already behind the set sechduel. Let us commence the Omnisen ritual of Prince, Xenos master if you will."

The sixth-class mage Oalfus Xenos, an old man in his seventies, the commander of maze units, and the headmaster of Xenos academy stepped forward from the audience of nobles standing just below the stage and began drawing an ancient magic circle that had been used for Omnisen ritual for over a four hundred years, according to legends, dragons had passed down this ritual magic circle to common peoples to help them enhance their magical prowess.
