Erwin—who had been home for a couple of hours— grew anxious of what Mina was up to. Not returning his calls, Erwin became afraid of what may have happened to her. Only for her to casually walk through their apartment door. Her boyfriend—already stressed out of his mind—expected some sort of apology, or response. But nothing came from her mouth.
“What happened?” said her concerned boyfriend. Mina looked at him with a face of confusion, knowing damn well why he was becoming agitated. “Nothing,”she said. “Just had to stay on campus for a little while.” she said so calmly. Though Erwin believed her, he knew there was something more to her answer.
The next day was like any other. Erwin went off to work, while Mina went off to school. On Mina’s side, she had expected the professor to make some sort of comment on Scott’s whereabouts, though nothing came of it. Which satisfied her, knowing that he wasn’t as important as he might’ve thought.
Later in the day was when problems began to manifest. Hours after the return of the two
into their home apartment was when it was discovered that Scott was found dead in his driveway. It seemed that no one had noticed for a whole day, considering how isolated everyone was in that neighborhood. After finding out about the horrible information, Erwin thought it was crucial that she knew.
“Hey, did you hear about one of the students? Apparently one of ‘em died.” he said, expecting her to have somewhat of a surprised reaction. Though, that wasn’t the case. Instead, she just sat on the bed, in silence. Erwin started to grow tired of her constant and strange behavior.
“Is there a problem?” he said with a slight bit of agitation in his voice. “Nope, no problem here, honey.” she said, with the last word coming off with a bit of sarcasm to Erwin. “I don’t understand what the issue is. Yesterday … you were acting completely different, and now you won’t even show any emotion to this horrible news!” Erwin yelled with anger in his voice, causing Mina to snap back even louder.
“What do you want me to do? Pay my respects to a man who didn’t even look at me as a real human being?” Mina shouts, not being able to take it anymore. “You knew who this was?” Erwin says with concern in his voice. “I need to go.” Mina responds as she begins to put on her black leather trench coat over her already black attire.
“Mina, just speak to me” Erwin says with a bit of fear in his voice as he walks up to Mina and softly grabs her shoulder. “ Get your fucking hands off of me.” calmly says Mina as she looks him down dead in the eye. “What?”
Mina then shoves Erwin as he hits the wall the bed is laid up against, hitting the back of his head enough to knock him out. She looks at him, with a slight bit of shame for what she had done, but not letting it get the best of her. All she needed was a breath of fresh air….
