The young husky’s ears would point upwards, turning his body around to the figure that stood at his doorway.
“Oh, heck..hi Aurora. Yeah I’m still awake, I’m just trying to figure out some things that..don’t add up.”
The protogen tilted her head as she closed the door, confused.
“What..kind of things?”
“Well I told Brian this a while ago actually but there’s still so much I need to look into in terms of our island’s history and stuff.”
Tyler looked over to his journal.
“Especially with the Island Guardians. What was the threat that came to our island, and why did they sacrifice themselves for it? It’s not really covered or talked about in the books..Like, no photo proof or anything. Though it also makes sense at the same time because it’s so ancient. All I know is that it was something controlled by evil and they needed to put a stop to it before the island was destroyed.”
Aurora shrugged.
“And unfortunately there’s nothing in my database that will solve these questions. However..”
The protogen turned her head upwards, using her visor to make a projection.
“There have been rumors of an ancient artifact that resides at the top of Mt Parrforte. Some say it was used by the Guardians, but it was put at the mountain’s peak to prevent it from falling into the wrong hands. As far as history goes, it stands there to this day but it’s also rumored to be guarded by another ancient being, the fabled ‘Mountain King.’”
Tyler tilted his head.
“The Mountain King?”
Aurora gently nodded her head.
“Ye. Not many have ventured to the top to really verify, though. All your parents have are ancient documents that date around the time of the Haitian Revolution, since part of our island’s history is connected to that. He’s rumored to be some sort of..Pallas Cat and Dragon hybrid, as far as I remember.”
Tyler scribbled down the details into his journal, while also yawning at the same time.
“Let me just…jot all this down for later reference maybe..”
The protogen gently poked him.
“You should probably head to sleep though. It’s 2:34am and you need to be well rested.”
“I’ll…”
Tyler heavily yawned.
“Be fine. Don’t worry.”
Aurora crossed her arms.
“You say that, but if you don’t get your required amount, you won’t function properly.”
The husky gently pat his protogen sibling’s head.
“I know, but like I said, I’ll be perfectly fine. Don’t worry.”
“Yeah, good luck trying to get this one to bed at a reasonable hour.”
Chuckled Adam, his big brother, as he walked by.
Aurora let out a confused beep.
“Wait, what are you still doing awake?”
“I got up to get a drink, that’s all. Unlike this one here I actually go to bed at a normal hour.”
Adam would say as he ruffled Aurora’s head fluff behind her visor.
“But anyway, I’ll see you guys tomorrow. Goodnight.”
The protogen watched the door close, then turned back towards Tyler, who let out a sheepish chuckle.
“You’re not gonna leave me alone till I give in, won’t you..?”
She softly nodded her head.
Tyler let out a sigh.
“..Fiine, would it make you feel better if I just laid down on my bed?”
Aurora’s facial expression on her visor turned to a smile; enough to convince the wolf to get up from his desk, move over to his bed and lay down on his back.
“There, ya happy now?” he asked as he looked at his robotic little sister.
The protogen laid down next to him, turning her body to wrap her arms around him and hug him close.
“Now I am.”
Tyler softly scoffed as he heard her let out a giggle, turning his body to hug her back while being in a comfortable position himself.
This comic series is, in a nutshell, going to be based on my own childhood experiences from growing up in the Caribbean with my family.
Caribbean Escapades primarily focuses on Brian and his close friend Usui. Joined by their friends, Sammy, Jinx, and Tyler, as well as their classmates, they leave their home island of St. Monusea and venture across the Caribbean for the summer; they experience new things and new people to befriend, and on occasion, old and familiar faces as well. And who knows? Maybe they'll discover new things about themselves, too!
