As Dad watches in excitement and anticipation, I focus hard on my insignia and send a burst of mana through my arms, hurling the ball of condensed ice towards the straw dummy. It hits, splattering into a volley of shards that glisten under the rays given by the sun. I heave and collapse, exhausted by the training I've been going through all day. It's been about a year since I developed my insignia, constantly working to get stronger with each passing day.
Not only from physical training however, I've also been honing my mental acuity to further strengthen my mana arts and channeling. Somewhere along the way my parents found out about my awakening and Dad has been supervising my training since, although being stricty restricted due to my age and my mothers worries. I guess a 3 year old has a lot of responsibilities in this world.
"Honey, can you get Noah ready? Cindy and Spring want us to meet their daughter." my Mother exclaimed, cutting our training short.
"Aw really? But we haven't even begun his hand to hand combat excercises.." Dad replied back, pouting slightly and looking down.
"Pops, it's alright. I'm still all sore from yesterday anyways and besides, I'm kinda interested to meet my new friend you guys have been preaching about for the past few days." I said, getting up and stretching to wake up the rest of my body.
"Thank you Noah, for a child so young you sure know limits unlike your father." Mother replied back, rolling her eyes and signaling us to come inside. It's around mid day and the way the light shined off my mom made her look more like an angel than a human.
Sighing, my dad gets up and pats my head. "When did you get so smart anyways? Aren't you like 2 and a half years old?"
He takes my hand and brings me back inside, and after about an hour of bathing and putting on a blue tunic and brown pants we made our way towards the Relight's, a 3 minute walk from our place. I've never actually been to their house, but I have seen Mr. and Mrs. Relight countless times. Mr. Relight, or better known as Spring, was a man with a nearly identical figure as my father, but spotted green eyes and a set of dark grey hair, similar to mines. His wife, Cindy, was a lot like my mom but with bright red hair and a pair of black horns that protruded out of her temples, curving up and back down. They are both of the demon race, making them the only family in the village to be of demon descent but among the elves and dwarves that lived here; a welcome change of pace.
As we got closer, I spotted a young girl blemishing an otherwordly set of pink hair with what I guess were her own horns, but instead of having a profound shape to them they were almost like little blobs of matter sticking to her temples. She was sitting on what looked like a large stone, but when she noticed us she practically ran back inside. Hell, I feel like I'm going to implode with nervousness I'd do the same.
It's been a really long time since I have spoken to anyone but my new parents so the anxiety was definitely still there, but I also had this new found courage and determination to make this new friend.
We were about 3 steps away before being greeted by the Relights, now walking out of their own home with the little girl behind them.
"Anna! Ron! We are so glad you could make it." exclaimed Mrs. Relight, her excitement completely taking over the vibe of the group.
"Cindy and Spring, how have you two been? It's been forever since I've last seen the two of you together at the same place." Dad replied, giving Mr. Relight a handshake.
"Haha yeah, let me tell you those goons back at town are something else. Is that your little bundle of joy? He looks just like Anna wow." said Mr. Relight, returning the gesture and kneeling down to me, patting my head with a gentle smile. His emerald green eyes were dark, but I could tell just from the way he held himself that he was strong. He had what appeared to be small fangs as well, which I have never noticed until just now.
"You said it, he can speak fluently as well which is honestly the craziest part." replied Dad, looking at me with proud eyes. "I'm not really sure who he gets it from, but hes also wicked strong for just being a toddler."
"With the direction you're taking him, I hope Noah at least focuses on his studies as much as he focuses on training." scoffed Mom, hiding a smirk and taking a glance behind Mrs. Relight. "Aww hi there, you sure are a cute one."
As if someone switched on a plug, all 3 of us looked at the girl, with Mr. Relight grinning long and hard. "Sweetie, come out and introduce yourself, Ron your child isn't the only one who's able to speak."
Mrs. Relight looked back and nudged the girl a little and she stepped forward.
"Umm, h-hello. My name i-is Lucy.. I hope we get along.." she says, looking at me and turning away after she was finished, trying to hide her blush.
"H-Hi, I'm Noah. Nice to meet you." I replied, feeling my own face getting warmer.
"Aww how adorable! Let's go inside and give the two their own time to, you know, get well aquainted with eachother." exclaimed Mrs. Relight, bubbling with joy. "Lulu, don't take him too far ok?"
After my parents bid me their temporary farewells, we were left alone infront of the gate to the house, a similar size and stature to the one me and my parents lived in. I could feel my own child heart jump in excitement, after all this was going to be my first new friend in this new world.
"Um it was Noah right? Wanna see something cool?"
