“Eh..?” muttered his secretary, just as Cedar Gallagher, President of J company passed his desk.
Cedar glanced over the man’s shoulder just as he clicked his mouse to open the email attachment.
“This…must be a mistake…I didn’t order anything…” the man muttered, leaning back, causing the computer chair to creak.
Cedar leaned in, placing his hands on his secretary’s shoulders so that he could stare at the computer screen, and then he started trembling with suppressed laughter.
“It’s from our new designer? Miss Martin?” he asked, fixing his expression.
“Yes, but other than this attachment, there wasn’t very much information…”
“Has our company been working with her quite closely?”
“Yes Mr. President…the design that you wanted for the third floor is something we ordered from her company. It was installed just last month.”
He frowned, reading the message aloud almost as if he was savouring each word.
“Further to our meeting regarding the order, if the design is to your taste, then let us meet at Essex hotel so that we can complete the paperwork for purchase and delivery…”
Cedar glanced at his watch, carefully noting the date and time…that’s tonight.
“Well, it must be a mistake…I don’t think it’s for you,” said Cedar slyly, still staring at the photo attachment.
Because she was sending this to his work email she was so careful…what a brilliant girl…it’s too bad Gordon is so dense…a shame really.
The other man shrugged, completely unaware of what was going on in his boss’s head.
“It’s strange. Miss Martin is such a precise, diligent person…it’s not like her to make a mistake like this…” he said, shaking his head in confusion.
Cedar shrugged, but then his lips tipped up in a feral smile.
To think Miss Martin was that kind of person…
“Just delete it. I’m meeting her this evening, and I can tell her about the mistake,” he said smoothly, patting the man on the shoulder.
“Oh?! I didn’t know you already had a meeting with her, Mr. President! That’s perfect. Thanks for your trouble!” the man smiled gratefully.
“Yes…well, I was just apprised of it…” Cedar grinned, stepping back. “Remember…delete that email.”
“Yes, sir!”
Turning on heel, he walked back into his office and shut the door with a quiet click. He tossed the folder he was holding back onto the desk, and hooked one leg up, leaning against the edge as he stared thoughtfully back at the door he’d just closed.
The hunter looking to eat may get eaten instead…I’m suddenly really looking forward to this.
He grinned thinking about the bolt of lightning that had gone down his spine.
Cedar closed his eyes and unbuttoned his collar as he threw himself into the chair.
There was still an hour before he had to leave, but he couldn’t stop thinking about the email and the attached photo of a beautifully designed nightstand.
