Three quickly stepped forward, eager to try their luck as soon as I asked. The other seven were pushed by the others into going first. The click I had noticed earlier were all sitting and watching on the side benches provided. It seemed they were going to use the others to evaluate my skills. Smart, but it wasn’t going to work.
I tapped the ground lightly with the heel of my boot. Sand with concrete, perfect for today’s plan. The kids meanwhile placed themselves around me creating a circle. A few began summoning their powers. I quickly noted them as I put one foot slightly behind me as if I was preparing to sprint.
The first I needed to take out were the two girls in front of me. They both had air abilities, making them dangerous. Next was the fire ability guy on the left. From there the kid with the water bubble power. I could start with them and alter the plan as the others revealed their powers. Alright, I thought as I gripped my staff with two hands. Time to start.
Immediately, I ran forward toward the two girls in front of me. The kids all followed suit, with the fire ability guy hurling small balls of fire at me. Not that I cared much. My clothes were all made from dragon steel, meaning they were fireproof.
From the corner of my eye, I saw that the kid to the right disappeared suddenly. Teleporting powers from the looks of it I thought as I activated the skates on my boots and took a sharp turn to the right. Doing a full circle, sand went up in the air as the two girls tried to use their ability to catch me. Some of the kids instantly began covering their faces to avoid the sand. As for the fire ability guy, well his power had been neutralized, at least for now.
Using the chaos they had created with their abilities, I quickly skated behind the two girls and released a few of my black tentacles into the arena. The tentacles would take care of any sneak attacks while I dealt with the two girls.
As the girls tried to stop the mini sand storm they had created, I raised my staff and hit them on their temple as lightly as possible. I needed them unconscious, not dead. When they dropped to the ground, I skated away in the direction I'd last seen the fire guy.
“Looks like the first two are out. And in less than two minutes.”
I groaned as the crowds cheered. Looked like even with the sand causing visual problems, the cameras were still able to capture my attack. Which meant…
Looking up to see the holograms, I smiled. If the cameras could capture what I was doing then, they were also showing a live feed of the other eight kids. And from the look of it, I had four coming from the left, one in front and two at the back, including the fire guy. As for the teleporter, he was to the right, having just appeared. Perfect.
I sent two tentacles to the right and a few others to the left of me. They'd take care of those kids while I dealt with the ones in front and behind me. As the kid in front of me got closer, I decided to stop and wait for her to come to me.
