Firstly, I wanted to show some of the town. So far I've given the impression that Darkhaven is maybe a village or something. I want the location to be a small city which has seen better days - something which opens up possibilities for exploration and stories.
I also wanted to make the panels a bit tighter. Many earlier strips ran on and got quite long. There were some low quality panels and others which showed a bit more effort. In this I wanted to be more concise but also up the quality.
Narratively, I also wanted to move things as swiftly as possible to introduce the third main character. This strip moved things on quite efficiently, whilst also adding to the story line and the world.
Again, pretty happy that this is another step up in quality. I also opted to keep the line work of characters more simple as well as minimizing the shading. These areas never look right and take a lot of time and effort. Here I've invested the effort in creating a living environment and allowing the characters to be more simple cartoons.
Moving to a new town is never easy. Getting used to new friends and new routines, not to mention the need to fight back the forces of hell and getting your calculus homework finished!
Rayne McKenzie has a lot to cope with in her new home of Darkhaven, but fortunately the town is populated by enough cool and kooky inhabitants, allies and advisories to make up for the slow internet speeds.
