The King of the Sun shakenly placed the letter down, his eyes already red from worry and relief.
"My son has been found in the Kingdom of the Moon. He is there currently as their guest. "
A red headed youth scoffed.
"You mean a political prisoner."
The King stood up, making arrangements for the upcoming trade off.
"Rory, it’s the only request they have asked of us."
Rory started throwing his arms up in a fit.
"But Jerrick! What if the whole thing is staged? A trap even?"
The King looked grave, looking out at his kingdom from an open window.
"I have his eldest son, so I’m sure he won’t endanger my son in the process. "
Jerrick called to the guards outside his quarters.
"Bring the Crown Prince of the Moon Kingdom to the Palace."
The Palace Guard bowed his head, before turning to leave.
Rory shook his head, still at a loss.
“King Jerrick, how can you be so calm about this?”
King Jerrick, looked at his young Knight. He gave him a soft smile.
“Prince Richard is more than just a Political Prisoner. King Aldrich will take care of my son and will keep him safe.” He sighed heavily. “If anything, its safer there at the Moon Kingdom then it is here…”
“What makes you say that?”
The Sun King lowered his head, his arms crossed as he thought over somethings.
“Sir Laris found Castor’s horse dead by the lakeside in our territory. Sign’s of a struggle was evident there….”
The young Knight nodded his head, following what the King was talking about.
“So he was lurid into a trap. Do you suspect someone from our own Circle?”
Jerrick nodded, thinking of who it could be.
“This is why my son’s disappearance hasn’t been announced yet. Not even My Queen knows…” He sighed heavily. "All that she is aware of is that he went on a trip to visit the Star Kingdom..."
Rory paled at that thought. Not only did King Jerrick lie about the Prince's wereabouts, but the Queen not knowing was even more scary.
“She’s not going to be happy….”
“That is why I am delaying the news. Whomever is behind this, I believe….” He looked at the letter once more. “Wants the war to return...”
Rory was still young to the worlds ways.
“Why would anyone want to do that?”
Jarrick knew why.
“There is money to be found in war…” The King crossed his arms, thinking. “I wonder….” He looked over at the fiery red head. “I must return correspondence to the King of the Moon. Let him know we are going to investigate on our end. I wonder if he can keep an eye on my son until then.”
“But King…”
“While you are at it, please send a note out for Solaris to return home.” He pulled at his short beard. “She is good with negotiations and has dealt with Moon people before and is in great standing with them.”
Rory nodded, still not understanding his Kings ways.
“Yes My King….” He turned to leave, to only stop short when the King called back out.
“Rory!”
“Yes My King?”
“Do not go to the Queen and tell her what we are doing.” He eyed him. “She may be your sister but she is my wife. I will tell her in a few days when its right to do so..."
Rory nodded his head, knowing he better avoid his sister or else he would spill.
