Sam-
Corey and I finished our tour and wandered through the hallways back to the room I woke up in.
“Thanks for taking me around Corey.”
“Of course if you're going to live here you need to know how to get around.” He grinned at me and my smile faltered.
“Y-yeah.” Corey opened the door to my room and said goodbye leaving me to my thoughts. After the door closed I sighed and ran my hands over my face. I'm not sure I'm ready for this. I sat down on the bed bouncing slightly and pulling my legs to my chest.
“I don't think I'm prepared to have mates yet.” I fell onto my back and hung my legs off the edge of the bed. What do I tell them? What if they hate me? I stared at the blank ceiling feeling uncertain of what to do. How do you tell your fated mate you're not ready? Aren't you like born ready or something? I sighed in frustration. The gentle buzzing of the lights and the noise of people moving around above me rang in my ears.
“Ugh”, I grabbed a pillow and pressed it over my face. I’m not used to this many people. I breathed in the nice clean scent of the pillow. The door creaked open and someone slid in closing the door behind them.
“Sam? What are you doing?” I lowered the pillow a bit and looked at who had disturbed me. Zero? He smiled at me and sat down on the bed, it slightly sagged at his weight. “You ok?” I nodded and stared at him. “Oh um, I thought you might be hungry.” He carefully placed a plate of food on the nightstand. “Do you want me to stay or..?”
I sat up and walked over to the food. “You can stay.” He beamed at me and I blushed. Does that really make him that happy? I grabbed the plate and sat back on the bed. Eww, celery. I grumbled and pushed it off to the side with my fork before eating the rest. Corey laughed and I turned to him and raised an eyebrow. What's he laughing at?
“So you don't like celery huh?” I glared at him.
“Is that a problem?” His chest rumbled with laughter.
“Not at all!” He looked me straight in the eyes, “it's cute.” I felt heat rise to my face and I put the plate down next to me.
“W-what?” I looked at him bewildered. Is he making fun of me? I pouted which just made him crack up more.
“Oh my god, how can someone be this cute!” He was bursting with laughter as he ruffled my hair. Some wisps fell into my eyes and I stared at him through a haze of pale blonde. What's wrong with him? Is it normal to just call people cute?! He weazed on the bed next to me as I stared at him. Is this how people normally make jokes? Zero stood up and grinned at me. “I’ve got to go now, I’ll see you later alright? Call me if you need something.”
“Huh? Yea ok.” he walked out of the room and I sighed. Are people normally doing this tiring? I slid off the bed and put my plate on the nightstand. The clock was flashing green numbers and I glanced at it. 10:15? Already? All of a sudden the bed looked very appealing. I should sleep.
After brushing my teeth I slid into bed and pulled the covers over my body. My face sunk into the pillows and the noise of the air conditioning flowing into the room silenced my unwanted thoughts. Sleep slowly took over and I sunk further into the bed calmly drifting off.
