Ari hears her heart beating sporadically as the long hand on the wall clock ticks slowly. She tries to distract herself with her phone but she couldn't help but stare at the office door in front of her so eagerly.
Once again, the restless part-timer is back at the same building where she was previously rejected and humiliated by the chairman of H Corporation. The brunette heaves a heavy sigh, contemplating how she should face Ren. Even though the two had a rough first encounter, her attitude and feelings towards him had completely flipped. Standing behind that grand door was the same man who saved her a few nights ago from a perverted maniac. She no longer carries a grudge or hostility against her heroic savior.
As she tries to think of nothing but positive feelings, the dream from last night suddenly clouds her thoughts. Although Ari tries to deny it, she clearly recalls the way how he dives towards her legs and takes over her lower body in such an aggressive and demanding manner. The thought of having a big, beautiful man like Ren performing cunnilingus on her was unimaginable but sexy as hell.
The nervous guest feels her heart beating faster as the scenario replays in her mind. Intrigued by the moment, she imagines herself defying the stoic receptionist's instructions and forcing her way through the chairman's door. If she was so brazen as to actually enter his office, she would walk straight up to him and grab onto his tie so they could meet eye to eye.
As a young woman who possesses exceptional appeal comparable to that of a model or beauty queen, most men desire her while most women despise her due to envy. Ari is aware of her blessings and isn't afraid to show it off. She is sure that she can potentially charm Ren if she truly wishes to.
However, knowing that Ren is highly intelligent, rich, and powerful who already has everything in the world, Ari agreed that he would never and should never bat an eye towards someone low and ungraceful like herself. Her mind is telling her to stop, but her ego is still trying to force its way through.
She continues to imagine the possibility of pulling him closer towards her so she could get a better sniff at his fancy cologne again. As he's only inches away, she would purposely breathe into his ear and whisper a daring but tempting request that'll make him speechless. Those two simple words would make any man go wild.
Ari's cheeks blush bright red. She was so dazed by her crazy fantasy that she didn't even hear the lady calling her name for the fourth time.
"Aah I'm so sorry!" Ari pinches her hand to get out of her naughty imagination and apologizes. She gets up from the seat and is finally instructed to enter the boss' office.
Ari could feel her heart pounding against her chest as she's approaching the busy man who had just finished his virtual meeting. She felt like a fool for having such a crazy imagination towards this refined gentleman. There was no way that she'd actually dare to do what she imagined towards him. Neither would he.
Forcing herself to forget about her little delusion, Ari places a paper bag on his desk and bows to show her respect.
"T... Thank you so much for helping me the other night," she stutters, her voice shaky as her cheeks brightens with shyness and a hint of embarrassment for imagining him so impurely. "I'm grateful for what you did. Here's your coat that you lent me. I had it dry-cleaned. Please take it back." Ari pauses briefly and sees his emotionless expression. Assuming that he's still upset by their first altercation, she adds, "I'm very sorry, sir. I truly apologize for acting out of line during the day of my interview. I was super immature and disrespectful towards you. Please, accept my apology!"
The chairman has been so busy that he didn't even bother to remember about that incident. In fact, he completely disregarded it and didn't even need her apology although he does appreciate it.
Ren rises from his desk chair and moves towards the seating area of the room. Not a single word was uttered as he maneuvered to the single-seat accent chair. When he sits down, he grabs the tablet on the coffee table to unlock the device.
"Miss Moon, take a seat," he finally responds, his tone impassive yet demanding.
Ari obeys and sits across from Ren on the same couch where they previously conducted her interview. While still wondering what he wanted to talk about, she sees him tapping on the touch screen device for a moment before setting it back down on the coffee table. Then, he slides it closer so she can view it.
"What is this?" she asks, curiosity present in her facial features as she wonders what business he would want with her.
"An employment contract," he responds before she could even get a chance to read the document title.
"What?!" Blinking rapidly, Ari glances up to meet his gaze. She needed to confirm if what she had just heard was really what she heard.
"I've decided to hire you," he continues bluntly, unresponsive towards her rising emotions. "If you accept the job offer, then you will officially be my new Personal Assistant. You will be working directly under me and assist the duties that are given to your senior coworker, my Administrative Assistant. The pay is negotiable, depending on your experiences. You'll have a full-time schedule and receive competitive employee benefits, such as medical insurance, 401K, etc."
"Mr. Hawk-"
"Finally, as an incentive, I will give you in advance the amount of money that you need to pay your debt. I'll personally deduct it from your upcoming paycheck under the condition that you work past your probationary period of three months after you sign that contact."
Ari was surprised to hear his proposal. It was too good to be true.
"Why? Why are you doing this for me?" she asks, her brows furrowing out of confusion and shock. "We don't even know each other and I thought I was unqualified after our interview. Am I that pathetic that you'll just easily hand me a job like this?"
"Not quite." The suited man leans back in his seat and crosses his arms. "Although uncalled for, the manager at the club told me about your ridiculous situation. I honestly could care less about your troubles, but I do feel bad for overreacting and treating you unfairly due to my own prejudice towards you. After re-evaluating your application without any bias, I concluded that you have more than enough potential to work in this company.
However, it's your choice. I'm not forcing you. Read through the contract. If you accept the conditions, then sign and date it. If you don't, then feel free to leave."
Ari had her head low. Many things were going on in her mind. She didn't want to accept a job that was easily handed to her like this but great opportunities don't come very often.
"Is there a problem," Ren asks, still expressionless as the clock was ticking. Time is money, and Ari was taking a little bit too much of his time away from his next appointment.
"N-No," she mumbles while scanning over the written conditions. Accepting this job would actually be the perfect solution for her current situation. This was a way better offer than working at the hostess club or continuing to work her butt off at her measly part-time jobs. She would be stupid to reject it.
Deciding to gamble on this unexpected fate, Ari signed and dated the electronic document. It felt good writing her name on that black line. For once, the stress that's been bottling up inside her for the last six months is finally beginning to slowly disappear. She felt so indebted and grateful to Ren that she could literally sell her soul to him.
Unfortunately, one shouldn't accept such a big deal out of spontaneous feelings.
