“Your uncle is busy running some errands of the Great Enchanter as I see that,” she said. “He will send someone to get you. But it should take some time.”
After that Nadezhda Olegovna escorted him out of her office gently.
Pavel was supposed to wait in a lounge until his uncle's man comes. There were coffee machines and sofas. He was sitting an the sofa and trying to use the possibility to learn something about those people he was related. Luckily local employees were happy to discuss all rumors. So Pavel was mostly listening them chatting about the Skopin clan.
“You definitely shouldn't mess with the head of the clan,” one man said. “She's a really cruel woman. Everybody knows that one she had destroyed another clan completely.”
“Yeah, that's right,” another guy nodded.
“Even the kids and old people were killed. It was a long time ago,” continued the first. “Twenty years or something I suppose. Since then Eugenia Alekseyevna is respected because she is feared, you know.”
“And everything because of this completely useless guy,” added another one. “Now he's her estate trustee. How could he even manage doing this job?”
“Right. He had never been talented in anything,” agreed the first one. “All that story started when someone attacked him. And the head just killed the whole clan when she considered them guilty.”
“But I've heard that estate trustee was also responsible for another clan's heir death. And that was the reason they attacked him.”
Pavel was completely lost. He just stopped follow the conversation for some time.
It was just so wild.
And he also didn't know which part of those rumors were correct. Were they just making fun of him? They didn't look like. What if they really meant it?
Pavel actually regretted that he had started this conversation. But it was the only possible source of information for now. So he continued listening.
“Your uncle Sergey is a really handsome man,” said a woman. “They say he's always so polite and kind to everyone.”
“They also say that he stole a great amount of money,” another woman added. “That's not surprising though. The head lets him manage all clan's property. And he embezzles a part of it for sure.”
“No one proved that.”
“Of course. He's just so good in stealing money.”
“He might be polite,” said the first man. “But those his friends...
“Yeah!” the first woman agreed. “Where did he pull them from?”
“Some gutter under a fence for sure!” the other woman laughed.
“One of them had threatened me once,” said the first man.
“Which one?” asked the second.
“That rude thing.”
“They are both rude actually.”
“Well, one of them is an awful bully,” the first man tried to explain. “And that guy has a kid who looks completely different. I doubt that's his son at all. Perhaps some woman had cheated on him and run away leaving both of them.”
“If you had been telling such things about his kid I'm not surprised of you'd been threatened.” the first woman said.
“That's not the reason!” resented the man. “He said he would punch me so hard that make my nose drive into my own skull!”
“The threats didn't help as I assume,” the other man said.
“Someone just came,” said the woman who have shown up in the room from the hall. “He's talking to Nadezhda Olegovna.”
The man who have been complaining about threatening looked out and said. “It's him! That psycho who was frightening me!” After that he left through another door pretty quickly.
Another employees also left trying their best to look busy.
Pavel went to the door leading to the hall. He was curious about the man threatening that guy. As Pavel saw him he couldn't help smiling. The guy he threatened was taller and two times bigger than him. That man who liked to spread rumors was such a coward. He wouldn't have survived their orphanage for sure.
