George
What a roller coaster of a day.
I found my mate, got rejected, got sent home, become such a wreck I had to be sedated, then my mate regretted it and decided to sneak up on me while I was sleeping.
It would be creepy to anyone, yes I know that. But he just stood there, caressing my face as I slept and I found this to be so endearing, so tender. Though I woke up a bit scared, I can't argue his touch isn't magnificent to feel.
It was like being caressed by the hands of an angel. I never wanted it to end.
After we had lunch together with my dads, he was on his way back to the pack house where he lives. And I was feeling much better.
When Charlie came home from school, I told him about what happened and he was relieved to find me in a better state, for sure.
I was a complete wreck before, so anything else is an improvement.
"I'm sorry for giving you guys such a hard time today. I was not in my right mind." - I apologized to my parents as they set up the table for dinner.
Dads smiled weakly at me.
"You have nothing to apologize for, son." - Dad said, feeling sorry for me.
"The one who should be apologizing is the kid we saved from certain death." - Daddy said in a snarky tone. Dad glares at him.
"He did apologize to me." - I was quick to defend him.
"Good. Who the hell rejects the future Alpha anyway?" - Dad sassed in an annoyed tone, not letting this go apparently.
"Hey, not everyone is after dad's money like you daddy." - I joked, to which he glared at me.
"Speaking of money, I hired him yesterday to drive Charlie on the weekends. That way George doesn't have to." - Dad informed us, to my brother's absolute delight.
"Really? Thanks, dad! You're the best!" - Charlie cheered with the news.
"What? Now my mate can't date me because he's too busy driving my brother? Fuck my life!" - I snapped, getting frustrated.
"First, I didn't know he was your mate when I hired him. Second, language! Do you want to spend the weekend grounded?" - Dad reprimanded, looking pissed off at me.
I just looked at him irritated but said nothing.
"Charlie, here's his number for you to set up a time for him to drive you." - Dad said and passes a piece of paper to him.
"Thanks, dad. You're the absolute best! I love you!" - He's statically happy as he wrote the number on his phone.
"Yeah, thanks dad." - I rolled my eyes.
"If you play this smart, son, you could manage yourself a date too. Maybe if you offer him some company along the ride..." - Dad winked at me with a mischievous grin.
"Sure. Or... you call him back saying you're sorry, but Charlie doesn't need a driver anymore." - I shot back, getting an annoyed grunt from my brother.
"Son, an Alpha is only as good as his word. Have I taught you nothing? He'll drive your brother and that's final. Plus, he needs the money!" - Dad argued, annoyed.
"I get that, dad. But I thought I'd take advantage of the fact that I don't have to wait 2 months for my mate." - I said, feeling frustrated.
"You still can do that. Smart people play around difficulties. Think, son!" - Dad challenged me.
We had a mostly quiet dinner at my house. There's a lot for me to think on tonight.
"Now I understand why George was so adamant about me saving that kid. The mate bond was already at work." - Dad smirked as we finished up dinner.
I thought about that for a second.
"You're probably right. Thanks for not letting my mate be killed, dad." - I smirked, contently.
"You're very welcome, son." - He replied with a smile.
When I went to pick up Junior in the next day, he didn't know what to expect. I had so much on my mind yesterday that I didn't even catch him up after he dropped me off at my house.
"Good morning, Junior. Sorry for yesterday." - I told him right away as he entered my car.
"You have nothing to apologize, Alpha. You're entitled to feel bad about being rejected." - He replied in a somber tone.
Charlie looked us with a saddened expression from the backseat of the car.
"About that..." - I started in an uplifting tone.
I explained everything that happened yesterday to him, including the surprise visit from my mate. By the time we walked up to the school gate, he was caught up in full.
There's just one little problem.
Nobody else was.
All the students stared at me as I entered school, looking pitifully at me like my cat had died or something. It's freaking daunting!
As I walked, people whispered about me.
'Reject walking.'
'Rejected Alpha.'
Yeah, it's as bad as you can imagine. My friends greet me with looks on their faces as if they're on a funeral. Funeral for the Alpha position that couldn't be mine anymore.
"I'm so sorry, George." - Mia told me with a pained expression.
"George? You never call me George!" - I gasped. People are already treating me differently.
"Sorry, I meant Alpha." - She corrected herself, making me feel worse.
"It's fine, Mia. You can call me George." - I said in a defeated tone.
It would take a while for anyone to feel comfortable around me again. I endured the best that I could. But if this is how my friends are dealing with, imagine...🙄
"How does it feel to be the first rejected Stonehold in more than 2 centuries?" - Jeff provoked me inside the classroom. The teacher wasn't in yet.
Literally the entire class gasped in unison, though they're all thinking the same thing.
"How does it feel when you don't have any teeth anymore because I'll knock them out of your mouth?" - I barked, livid.
I'm not in the mood. But my day has only just began. It's gonna get much worse before it gets better. If ever.
After enduring the first period of pity stares, I walk up the corridor for my next class with Junior and his mate Trisha by my side.
At some distance, I hear my brother losing his patience.
"People, stop calling me Alpha! I'm not the Alpha, my brother is. And it's really disrespectful to him if you address me in that way!" - He snapped at some of his classmates.
Damn! That was fast!
My brother walks away from them and sees me watching the scene from far. He looks troubled and mumbles an apology to me.
"I've barely even been rejected and people are already calling for another Alpha. Damn, that was quick!" - I muttered under my breath, deeply uncomfortable.
It's worth saying that though my father once said that Charlie could be Alpha just like me, my brother never really competed with me for it.
He always understood that it's my position to ascend. Yes, he's taught at Alpha level like me and trains just as hard in the wrestling team.
But he never expressed any desire of taking over my spot. On the contrary, he's been nothing but supportive of me throughout this whole time. Through thick and thin, he's been there for me. And I absolutely love him for it.
He didn't even rub in my face that he's team captain and I'm not. That's how humble he is.
Damn, I love my brother. He's probably a way better man than I am.
After facing the second and third periods of people gossiping about me and what a loser I am, it's time for wrestling practice.
All the boys looked with pity at me, naturally. Even the coach.
"Stonehold, if you need to sit this one out, it's fine by me." - Coach said, looking sorry for me.
"No thanks, coach. I'm fine." - I replied promptly with a fake smile and he lets me go.
We entered the locker room to change clothes for practice quietly as none of the boys wanna comment on that. I mean, most of them.
"Hey, look at this way, reject. At least now your brother can become Alpha and we'll have a real man leading us." - He smirked, poking fun at me.
A low growl escapes my lips. My eyes are glowing in anger.
"Breathe, Alpha. Breathe." - Junior says to me in a fearful tone.
"He's not the Alpha anymore. Didn't you see him getting rejected by his bitch mate yesterday?" - Jeff interjected, going too far.
I tried, I really did.
I lunged at him, coming at Stockwell with everything I have. Between traded punches and glowing eyes, we're badly bruising each other in seconds. I'm viciously punching him with all my frustrated anger, but he's not letting me get away unscathed.
Soon, the coach came and separated us. Then, he took us to the principal's office. This day just keeps getting better and better.
Half an hour later, his and my parents arrived.
"What the hell, George! Fighting, really?" - Dad reprimanded me, looking mad.
"I'm sorry, he kept calling me a reject." - I apologized, though I'm not particularly sorry.
Jeff's parents glared at him as they heard this. Daddy too.
"Mr. and Mrs. Stockwell, please accept my apologies for my son's behavior. It's unbecoming of his position." - Dad looked them in the eyes when he said that.
They thanked him for the gesture.
"I'm sorry that this happened. And I hope you two can reflect upon this and make better choices in the future." - Aunt Sarah said with a knitted frown.
"George, you're suspended for a week." - She declared, painstakingly.
"Jefferson, one week detention." - She continues, making him gasp in surprise.
"What? Why? He attacked me!" - He defended himself, feeling outrageous. His parents are looking at aunt Sarah for an explanation. And she's certainly gonna give them one.
"Maybe if you haven't said and I quote: 'at least now your brother can become Alpha and we have a real man leading us'." - She called him out in front of his parents, who were gobsmacked at the revelation. And Jeff couldn't dispute it, we weren't alone inside the lockers.
"What did you mean by real man? Is there something you'd like to share with me or Alpha Stonehold? Please, tell us what is a real man according to you?" - Aunt Sarah stared him down.
I've never seen Jeff diminish himself, but he sunk on his seat in front of the principal, his parents and the Alpha family. He's feeling so mortified I can even smell it.
"I apologize for my son's comments. They were out of line. He'll do the detention. Good day." - Mrs. Stockwell said to us in an incisive manner. Then, she collected her son's belongings and left with her mate and Jeff.
"Thanks, aunt Sarah. I apologize for everything, dads. I was just so mad. How do you know what he said inside the locker room?" - I'm genuinely puzzled, looking at her.
"Oh I have ears everywhere. I'm the principal." - She boasted, grinning.
"Let's go, son. Thanks, Sarah." - Dad said, moving to walk out of her office.
I'm deeply embarrassed about this.
I should've known better. And usually I do, but when he said 'bitch mate' I lost it completely.
Whether or not he rejected me, it's inconsequential. He IS my mate and I won't tolerate any disrespect. Especially from the likes of Jeff Stockwell, that sexist stupid idiot. I pity his mate already and his birthday (party) is right around the corner.
After I endured an hour on the clock of my parents discussing my behavior and its consequences, I knew I was in deep shit. There's no way around it.
However, there's only one thing on my mind right now and that is the boy who wasn't at school today. I'm guessing he doesn't take classes normally like most seniors. I don't know why, I don't get access to his school file and I've literally just met the guy.
But I gotta talk to him. Yesterday wasn't nearly enough. And now I got nothing but time.
I asked my daddy to let me go to the pack house, but he said I was walking there as I'm not taking the car for a week. I love my car, but I know I fucked up. Fortunately, the pack house is in walking distance from ours. A long walk, sure. But I'd walk a thousand miles just to see my mate.
Once I reach the pack house, I go inside and ask one of the maids where is my mate's room. Naturally, everyone knows me here and my rejection already made waves throughout the pack yesterday. She pointed me in the right direction and soon enough, I'm knocking at his door.
"What are you doing here? I'm not allowed to have visitors inside my room!" - Liam told me wide-eyed scared as soon as he opened the door.
"This rule doesn't apply to me. Can I come in?" - I said without missing a beat.
Who does he think he's talking to?🙄
"Right, I forgot about that. It's still surprising to me this mating." - He admitted, giving me space to enter. He closes the door behind me.
"Tell me about it! I didn't think the Goddess would choose anyone outside of the pack for me." - I said with an awkward smile, as I make my way inside.
"Sorry about that." - He offered, blushing. - "I didn't even think I'd get a mate, to be honest. I thought they died when..." - He stopped himself, but I already know what he meant by that.
We stared at each other in awkward silence for a minute, standing in from of each other.
"I'm sorry you had to go through that. And for your father." - I said after a while, uncomfortably.
"It's fine. I'm over it by now. Hi, George. What can I help you with?" - He took a giant inhale of my scent as he said that.
"Hi, Liam. I--"
"Wait, what are you doing here at this hour? Why aren't you at school? And what happened to your face?" - He bombarded me, cutting me off as if now realizing I look bruised.
"I got into a fight at school earlier and now I'm suspended, that's why." - I explained, feeling embarrassed.
He came closer to me, reaching out his hand to touch my face and I instinctively whimpered at his soft contact. It's like nothing I've ever felt before. He smiled at the effect he had on me.
"I'm sorry you fought. Was it my fault?" - He looked guilty at me.
"No, I'm the one who fought. And I didn't come here to talk about that. I came to talk about us." - I shoot straight, looking deeply into his eyes as he's close to me.
He took a few steps back and smiled awkwardly.
"Sure, what do you want to talk about?" - He smiled politely, but somewhat uncomfortably.
"Well, for starters, can I ask you out on a date?" - I said, then blushed automatically under his surprised gaze.
"I can't go out on the weekend as I got a job--"
"I know. But there's nothing stopping us from going out on a date while you wait for my brother to return from his." - I cut him off, arguing with a firm tone.
"Well, if you're willing to work around your brother's schedule..."
"I'm willing to fight for us!" - I cut him off again, almost desperately.
There's an intense stare between us. I look at him with hunger, lust that the mate bond is triggering right now because of our close proximity. It's unequivocally making me longer for a boy I've only just met.
"It's a date." - He agreed after a while, looking away from me shyly.
"Perfect. I'll get your number from my brother, with your permission." - I said in a humble tone.
"Or I can give it to you now." - He smirked, looking at me with a glistening joy on his eyes.
My Goddess what a smile. I'm smitten! *swoons*
I took out my phone and gave it to him, who puts his number on it. After that, I took my leave as both of us are not long for lunch time and I didn't want to overplay my hand.
I'm sure there's still a lot for me to deal with, considering this mating. But I'm ready to fight for it. I was born a fighter and I'll stop at nothing until I get what I want.🤨
A|N: I wasn't completely aware of this song and discovered it to name this chapter.
They're so cute together, all awkward and stuff. So adorable!
Love,
Léo.
