Chapter 2: You are My Secret

A/N: Reminder that the Italics are our beloved main character speaking from the future. Happy reading.

Levi's POV:

The way his smile revealed his perfect teeth was criminal, and the way his beautifully styled hair glowed in the sunlight. My heart was beating so fast that I thought it would jump out of my chest. He looked at Jace and me as he came closer.

"Hey, Jace." He said, melting me softly with his deep voice. But, seriously, I need to get a hold of myself.

"Hey, Kayden, how are you today?" Jace asked, which had me in shock. Wait a minute, he knows him? I lean into Jace and whisper, "Hey, you know him?". "Yeah, he is my boyfriend's close friend, so we always hang out."

"HAH! What are the odds of you choosing him?" laughed Jace. So there he goes, interrupting me again, "why are we even friends?" I said, sighing in disappointment, "because you love me, now come on, continue. It's so much fun".

"Perfect," I commented sarcastically, and smiled at the gorgeous man in front of me... attractive. That's an understatement. "Oh, let me introduce you guys. This is Kayden Pierce. He is the captain of our school. He is super smart too. I think you'll both get along well."

"Hi, Levi... no title. Nice to meet you," I spoke nervously, trying my hardest not to stutter and make a fool out of myself. "Nice to meet you too." He smiled at me, and I wanted to drown from the blessing in front of me. Jace and Kayden chatted all the way to school; while I sat there, staring at them, until the bus arrived. Kayden bid goodbye before jumping off the bus as he had a meeting to attend. My eyes followed him, not focusing on anything, but the man who stole my heart. How can a person be so perfect? He makes me feel things I've never felt before, the way he spoke, the way he looked, the way he smiled. Did I mention his killer smile? Did I? Well, I will repeat it, in case no one got it... THAT SMILE IS ILLEGAL.

My train of thought was interrupted by a very energetic little cookie. Jeez, how can someone be so bubbly this early in the morning? "Jace, please calm down. It's too early," I groan. "But Lee, you like what you picked, didn't you?" he asked while staring at me intensely like a hawk waiting to catch his prey. "W-what, no, I just met the guy. Plus, it was just a coincidence that I picked him. He was the only one there that looked decent," I rambled, hoping he would drop the subject. "And did you seriously have to shout out what I said to get his attention? That was so embarrassing", I nudged his side angrily. "Ouch, stop. That hurts. It was an honest mistake, and I just got excited," he said with a suspicious smile—the kind of smile you see when a villain gets what he wants.

Thinking back, I'm pretty sure he planned this...

"Whattt, I did no such thing"—any who back to the subject in question.

"Not, but seriously, Le, what did you think? Did you fall in love at first sight? Should I prepare for your wedding? Oh my god, we could go on double dates and be best friends couples... that would be so great. OH MY GOD! Levi, this is soooo exciting. I've got to tell Amari so we can plan this I-"

"Are you high? What is wrong with you? Calm down. I got no idea how Amari deals with you, that guy is a saint," I exclaimed annoyingly at Jace and his shenanigans.

He looked at me with a smile that turned his eyes into crescent moons, and I loved that smile. It made him ten times cuter, and I couldn't resist him. "He loves me too much, and can you blame him? Look at me; I'm amazing", he uttered confidently, and I couldn't help but laugh.

"Jokes aside, Levi, you didn't answer my question. Do you like him?" Jace questioned. I tried to avoid eye contact and busy myself looking at the trees along the sidewalk leading to the school entrance. "What, of course not. As I said, I just met the guy. Plus, who would like someone this quickly? It's lame." I laughed, but it sounded awkward. I peek at him ever so slightly, wanting to know what he is thinking.

"Liiiiiiiiiies" he shouted, scaring me as he managed to once again focus all the attention of the public on us.

"KEEP QUIET!" I hissed, smacking his empty head. Damn it... this kid will be the death of me. We walk together towards the school as he is about to speak when I catch our other friends in sight. "Oh look, it's Leo and Alex," I say, interrupting him quickly as he shifts his attention to them. He quickly sprints and attacks Alex in a hug while Alex dodged him like a flying ball. Jace stared at him and pouted, forgetting about me as I sighed in relief.

"Alex, why are you so mean to me? I just want to show you my loveeeee," Jace complained. Alex looked at him with his signature poker face.

"No, thank you. I'm good." He said, swatting Jace away from him like a fly. I laugh at their interaction. This never gets old. Jace and Alex are like Tom and Jerry, constantly bickering and insulting each other, well, more like Alex insulting Jace. Regardless, they get along well.

On the other hand, Leo is like the mother hen, ensuring the kids behave. "All right, kids, calm down. Let's get to class before we are late," Leo said, looking at me worriedly.

"Are you okay?" he asked. How does he know?!

"I'm fine, just a bit sleepy. Let's go to class, shall we?" I smiled at him, and we all made our way to our designated classes.

I walked into class and sat in my seat next to the window, greeting my classmates. Since I am in higher classes than all my three idiots, I am here on my own. I look out the window and think about Kayden. He was so handsome and dreamy... maybe, just maybe, I should start thinking about a relationship... no Levi, get a hold of yourself and focus. You don't need any distractions right now. Just focus on your studies. Don't let Jace get to your head. Plus, I can't possibly like him this much already. We just met, for God's sake, but how come I never noticed him before? How out of it was I?

"Pretty out of it if you ask, all you ever did was bury yourself in books, so boring", interrupted Mr. Jace again, "well good thing I didn't ask, plus at least I was studying and getting good marks, not like your dumb ass" I replied feeling proud of the fact that I'm smarter than him. "Pufft you wish" he laughed mockingly. I give up.

Time skip (lunchtime)

"Ahhhh, I'm so hungry" yelled Jace.

"I know me too. Let's go eat," I replied excitedly, since I had cooked my lunch and couldn't wait to have my favourite food.

"You brought your own lunch?" he asked while pouting, "You are so lucky you can cook; my mum makes me buy my food because she is too busy." He looked at me with puppy eyes, and at that moment, I knew I wasn't going to enjoy my favourite food. He kept staring at me, begging me with his eyes to let him eat with me, while I was asking myself again and again why I became friends with this idiot...

"Okay, okay, fine, stop staring," I huffed in defeat "yaaaaay," he jumped happily, grabbing the lunch box from my hand.

I can't handle this kid. He is so freaking cute. Jace and I have been friends since childhood. He moved next door to us, and we got close after spending time with each other. To be honest, Jace was adorable and still is, which always reminds me of the old days. He used to always follow me around like a little puppy, I used to be his role model, and now he is so annoying. He's changed a lot, and I feel like I'm following him now. He is very nosy, but I still love him though sometimes we wish death upon each other. He is my best friend who helped me through tough times. Like that one time, I accidentally broke my favourite pink crayon, and he helped me steal one from Jeff's complete 25-crayon set. It was even the Crayola brand. I mean, come on, can friendship get any better?

Later, we met Leo and Alex, and we hit it off, making fun of each other's missing teeth, especially Leo. He looked hilarious. We still teased him about it. Ah, the good old days when we all cared about who had more toy cars. Alex always won, by the way. Since then, we've always stuck together.

"...vi... hey Levi", Jace's voice pulled me out of my thoughts.

"Yes?" I asked as I stuffed food into my mouth.

"Your meat tastes bland," he said with a serious face, and that, my friends, was how Jace died.

Maybe he didn't die, but he was extremely, excruciatingly, impossibly close to death.

After lunch, Jace and I started chatting about random stuff until Leo and Alex came and joined us. "Hey guys, where've you been?" I ask.

"We had to give the teacher our projects, and it took forever because Mr. Jackson decided he wanted to sharpen ALL his pencils the second we stepped in," Leo replied. I nodded understandingly, knowing Mr. Jackson was a basic bitch. They joined the conversation and started chatting and laughing about how Jace was scared shitless when his boyfriend found out he stole and ate all his snacks. Then a certain someone catches my sight. I look to see Kayden, and my heart starts beating so fast that Alex's toy race car is jealous. I stare at him walking to meet his friends with his wide smile, and with my lousy luck, Jace sees me staring, giving me a look, a creepy look like he can read my thoughts, you know, the 'I know what you did last summer look... damn it he caught me...

"Levi looks like your future boyfriend has arrived and looking like a whole snack, might I add." Surprised by what he said, the other two looked at me, asking at the same time.

"What boyfriend?" they yelled.

"Did you get a boyfriend? Why didn't you say anything?" Alex asked while giving me a sad look, as if someone had just taken his candy, which in my defence, no one stole his candy.

"No, I did not get a boyfriend. But, Jace, please stop exaggerating before I shave your pink head." I threatened, glaring at him. Jace gasped hurtfully.

"You wouldn't!"

"Try me Bitch".

"Okay, but what is he talking about?" Leo asked curiously.

Jace then told them the whole story. "... And that's how our Levi fell in love... ouch, why did you hit me?"

"You deserved it, you little shit," I replied angrily. I am most definitely not in love with Kayden.

"Lee, why don't you try going out with someone? You've been single for like forever," Leo asked. I look at him confidently. "I don't feel like it's the right time, and I don't want to force my feelings at the moment. I don't feel ready."

What a load of crab that was... give it a second.

Minutes later, I see Amari making his way to our table.

"Heads up, Jace, your sugar daddy is here," Alex said with a smirk. Jace looked at him, annoyed, "Well, at least I have someone, unlike your lonely ass."

Jace gets up to meet Amari with a hug. Amari pulled Jace into a tight embrace, whispering in his ears how much he missed him as if they hadn't seen each other in years. It was a sweet sight. In all honesty, their relationship was lovely. They both loved and trusted each other deeply. Though sometimes it got too uncomfortable for the public, just like now. I sigh, watching the sweet embrace turn into an entire make-out session. "Guys, seriously, too much PDA. Get a room," I say, embarrassed, although almost everyone was used to this sight. "Aw, why stop it, Lee? It was just getting interesting," Leo added, smirking. This pervert enjoys it too much.

"It's fine, Leo. He is just jealous," Said Jace, pulling Amari to sit at the table with him. Ignoring his apparent jab to rile me up, I turned to Amari. "Hi man, how have you been?" I ask him with a genuine smile.

"I'm good, Lee. Thank you for asking. How about you?" he replied with his signature smirk.

"I am fin-"

"He has a crush on Kayden," squealed Jace with excitement, interrupting me.

"What... no, I don't. Jace, stop doing this. You are taking this way too far." I look at him dumbfounded. I sighed, not knowing what to do while everyone around the table looked at me.

"I'm sorry, Lee. I didn't mean to shout it out," he apologised, but I was still annoyed with him.

"I'm sorry, Amari. Please ignore this cotton candy-dipped idiot next to you. Let's just get to class, shall we?"

They looked at me and nodded, the bell rang, and we returned to class. Throughout my lessons, I thought about the perfect smile and gorgeous face that kept occupying my every thought. Do I like him? But I just met him, and we only said hi. I mean, he is beautiful... look at him... wait, what?

"Sorry to disturb you, Mr. Kim, but I need to speak with you regarding the meeting," said the guy who made my heart flutter with every word. He looked around the class and noticed me. Then he nodded at me, smiling, giving me a heart attack. "Oh god, I do like him... a little," I thought to myself while smiling back with a light blush on my cheeks.

"Yes, of course... class, I will right outside, behave please." Mr.Kim said as they exited the classroom.

Oh, dear god, what is he doing to me? I have never felt this way before. I was the person who mocks love at first sight, I mean, it sounded like a fairy tale. Yet here I am, falling head over heels for someone I met two seconds ago. Jace cannot know. I must hide this until these feelings disappear. I started thinking, while looking at the floor, hoping that what I said would be true. My feeling will disappear... my chest tightened at the thought of him. Am I going to be okay? What am I going to do...?
