A witch, a wolf, and a prince

A conversation Among Teachers

A conversation Among Teachers

Oct 21, 2022

Several teachers are seated around a looking glass.

Day 1:

“There are quite a few promising students this year.”

“Do you think any hold promise for the tower?”

“I see a few.”

“I am interested in the ones who are using the scrolls as traps.”

“Quite a few groups decided to do something along the lines of petrification spells.”

They wave another looking glass over.

“Seems like someone is about to trigger the spell.”

“Are you sure seems like- oh goodness...”

“In all my years...”

“I thought they were all gone?”

“You mean the practice, after-”

“Shush, we do not speak about it.”

“We have a weaver in this year’s students.”

“And two princes.”

“Don’t forget the temple’s saintess.”

“In addition to the lone wolf, he seems to be faring well despite not having a pack.”

“What about the djinn? They seemed to be working well so far.”

“Won’t be long until one of them stabs the other in the back, though."

"Does that apply to the Harpies?"

"Perhaps, we'll have to keep watching."

“Wait, look the Saintess.”

“What is she doing?”

“Does she think no one will attack her?”

“It’s an elf! A dark elf?”

“Her luck just ended- wait, the elf is helping?”

“Who is that?”

“He’s alone.”

“Prince Liam is heading in the same direction.”

“If they run into each other-”

“Oh, seems like a vampire found itself cornered.”

“No, they’re smarter than that.”

“There are too many students going through the test in groups. How interesting.”

Day 2:

“How brilliant!”

“Indeed, to have the foresight to camouflage his scent around the werewolves and the shapeshifters, truly he is an exemplary student.”

“Prince Liam will be the most interesting. Well, aside from Prince Nholan.”

“Good thing we placed Prince Nholan at another testing location.”

“There would have been a terrible battle otherwise.”

“Then the saintess was placed here because-”

“Sush, her uncle comes and goes, you know.”

“Right.”

“Oh, is that?”

“Why is she running from a boar?”

“Haven’t the faintness clue, but she is going in the opposite direction.”

“Pity, I was hoping to see more of the weaver.”

“How’s the saintess doing?”

“Hm, seems to be having a tough time climbing... oh, there are a few light mages there cutting a path.”

“Leaving it too uncovered, if I do say so myself.”

“Agreed.”

Day 3:

“And that makes the eighth group he has faced thus far.”

“Prince Liam doesn’t even look tired.”

“His aura must be something terrifying. He'll make a great student for you, Professor Efril.”

“Professor?”

“....”

“Seems he’s focused on the match.”

“They were too confident.”

“What’s this?”

“It’s your weaver, she’s back?”

“Didn’t we just see her fight the wolf?”

“I thought the pain in her arm would have stopped her from continuing.”

“There’s a reason why runes are now outdated tools.”

“She’s heading right for-”

“Well, she had a good run. Maybe next year.”

“Wait, hold on.”

“Don’t tell me.”

“Goodness, how feral.”

“Such erratic behavior.”

“Needs proper training.”

“Quite the challenge for you there, Professor.”

“....”

“Don’t bother he moves on quickly.”

“How about the saintess, seems the dark elf went up ahead.”

“As a diversion.”

“It’s just a bright light, there’s not much to it.”

“But such raw power...”

“Can also act as a beacon.”

“Prince Liam noticed, a couple of vampires did too, some djinn, are those harpies?”

“Interesting tactic.”

“There’s a lot of promising students this year.”

“Indeed.”
