My parents were also very excited, with a little lump on my mothers stomach. Something tells me that lump isn't just for show.
We head a knock at the door and my father rose and opened it, greeting the person from the other side. He walked in, clad in a black drawl and shining black armor. He looked no older than 20, with much of his facial hair shaven off besides a slight stuble that sat on his chiseled face. He had flowing blonde hair that came up to his chin, with a majority of the back tied into a small ponytail. He was built like my father, only leaner and taller with a sword strapped around his waste.
"Alrighty everyone, meet Avan, the Assignator from Hystia," said my father, straightening up as he gave a slight bow. "It is our honor and pleasure be in your service."
The man looked at my father and returned a smile, bowing back.
"The pleasure is all mine, Ron. If it wasn't for you and your guild, my father would have died to those bandits. It was because of you that he had lived a longer, more fulfilling life."
He straightened up and took a glance around the room, then looked back at my father.
"Let's get this show on the road, shall we?"
My dad got up and relaxed, his facial expression now stern and serious.
"Kids, let's head outside."
We headed towards the door and stepped outside, standing in a line like soldiers ready to be given orders.
"Alright, so this is how it will work. I will assess each one of you privately. I'll take a look at your insignia. your mana orb, and your growth potential. This won't take long at all, but towards the end I will have each of you partake in a mock spar against one of my creations." Avan stated, looking more like a soldier than earlier. He spoke with elegance and dignity, with his stance no different than someone of royalty.
Me and Robin looked over at Lucy, who looked pretty excited. She's been pumped for days to see how strong she was, like a fire getting ready to blaze in glory.
Lucy Relight's POV
"Lucy Relight."
"So you are the demon girl, are you ready?" he replied, kneeling down to my head level.
"Mhm!"
"Ok so, first we are going to examine your mana orb. Stick out both palms and release it."
I stuck out my arms and concentrated, releasing the mana inside of me and directing the flow out of my palms to the best of my ability. It started to glow and manifest, first a small ball then to a red diamond.
"Interesting, do you have your demon mana orb by chance?" He asked, inspecting the glistening red diamond.
"I do yeah, it's in my pocket."
I reach into my pocket and pull put the mana orb, now the size of a marble. Unlike the larger one, this one was compact and let me use my demon arts without restriction, but it had to stay on me at all times.
"Pour mana into the orb and show me your demon arts." He stated, looking at it with an intense glare.
Feeling nervous, I poured my remaining mana into the orb, and after a few seconds a white flame roared to life.
Looking up to see Alan in the face, I was surprised to see a shocked expression on his face.
"Umm, is there something wrong?" I asked, afraid that I may have done something.
"No no, it's just that white flames are very rare for demon arts. Not only that, but your affinity is towards fire and a spellbound on top of all that. You will end up becoming a very strong warrior if trained properly, no doubt. Maybe even strong enough to be a guard for one of the royal families."
I started to smile really hard and look at him with excited eyes. I was so happy! Here I was thinking that maybe I was just weak compared to the others and that the only good thing about me was my control for fire, but that wasn't the case at all.
I released control of my mana orbs and they faded away, becoming one with the wind. Now the true test, my insignia.
"Show me your insignia, Lady Lucy."
I turned around and showed him my neck, moving away the hair that covered it up. Although I know that I had at least two marks, I wasn't sure if they were really any good. I know Noah talked about insignias before, but besides that I don't really have any knowledge about them.
"Lady Lucy, I am pleased to announce that you are currently a 3 mark Insignia, meaning that by the time you reach adulthood you will most likely become very strong and will be able to utilize a few mana arts. Your growth potential is immensely large, congradulations."
