‘Admiring the view, my sweetie pie?!’ Mattias gasped the moment he heard this voice, turning around to face the person.
‘Viola?! The hell are you doing here?!’
‘Well, you need a bit of help getting this fatass out of this bedroom, don’t you think?’
‘Well, yeah… that’s nice’ Mattias suddenly looked all serious ‘What’s all this about, anyway?! I was told I was going to be cleaning a farm!’ Viola started laughing.
‘Nothing you were told was incorrect, my baby!’ she continued laughing ‘Come on, use that head of yours! What does “cleaning” also mean?’
‘Ugh, it only has one meaning! To make something… not dirty!’ Viola was still laughing.
‘Come on now, you’re so close to the other meaning! You can do it! I’ll give you a clue: if I stole someone’s money and spent on something, what have I done to it?’
‘You have… got rid of it?’ Viola started to look frustrated.
‘Yeeessss, but why did I do that in the first place?’
‘So the person you’ve stole the money from can’t get it back?’ Viola sighed.
‘You’re so close, yet so far… I honestly thought you would smarter than this!’
‘Well, thanks. I were to guess then, it would be to avoid suspicion!’
‘YES! Finally you’ve got it! You can even say I “cleaned” the money!’ she burst out laughing.
‘Oh… right’ Mattias sighed ‘I should have known… not that the other choice was any better’
‘Mattias! You have to get this in your thick skull! This what you’ll be doing every day for the rest of your existence!’
‘Ugh! I think I would rather have died…’
‘Come on now! Don’t think like that! Now let’s “clean” this farm!’ she grabbed the dead man by the shoulders. Mattias grabbed him by the legs.
‘By the way, don’t you think you should wear something less… revealing?’ asked Mattias, when they got the body outside the room.
‘No! If that fatty downstairs has a problem with how I’m dressed, that’s tough shit for him!’
‘But he seems very… proper’
‘I think “pompous asshole” would be far more fitting!’ they continued to drag the body down the stairs and later tossed it on the pile with other two. Lord Florian was shocked the moment he saw Viola.
‘Who are you?!’ he yelled, gasping. His face was red.
‘An associate of Mattias here’ she started laughing ‘How many more corpses are we going to drag?’
‘About three more, I would say!’
‘Right then!’ the two went back upstairs, Mattias went into the bedroom opposite the one they went in last. Inside was a dead woman in a pink dress - she was hung by a rope. Viola started sniffing, as if she were crying. ‘She would have been a fine succubus… how could someone do such a thing?!’
‘Are you all right?’ asked Mattias.
‘No! How am I going to sleep tonight! Anyway, we need to get her down somehow’
‘Do you have a knife?’ Viola looked aghast.
‘Do I look someone who carries a godforsaken knife?! Wouldn’t it be pretty obvious if I had one?!’
‘That would another reason why you should wear more clothes’ Viola then brandished a knife, throwing it at the rope, cutting it instantly. The dead body fell to the ground. Viola then left the room, she looked very annoyed. ‘Oh excuse me, then’ Mattias dragged the body all the way out of the room and downstairs. Almost as soon as he did that, a body fell from the upstairs, it nearly landed on him. He looked up to find Viola stutting off into another room, soon afterwards she chucked a body down to the ground floor.
‘Well, that’s all of them, as far as I know’ said Lord Florian ‘Who is that harlot you’ve brought along with you, anyhow?’
‘Her name’s Viola. She’s not a “harlot”, by the way’ Viola came up to Mattias, still looking agitated.
‘I have a friend who’s going to help us with this’ she stated. A very large man wearing an apron came inside the manor. He didn’t quite look human.
‘Who is this monstrosity?!’ Lord Florian gasped.
‘He’ll help dispose of the bodies in a way that’ll help your farm’ Viola continued ‘He’ll strip the flesh off of the bone and have it turned into compost’
‘Well, that’s, wonderful and all, but about the skeletons?’ Viola suddenly looked bemused.
‘Hmmmm, I didn’t think of that, to be honest’ she turned to face Mattias, with a scowl on her face ‘Any ideas?’ Mattias just shrugged.
‘I don’t have a clue… what about their clothes?’
‘We could wash those. No one needs to know they came from dead people’ there was a brief period of silence.
‘Young lass’ Lord Florian began ‘I realised we do have a press that could be used to crush the bones’
‘OK, we’ll use that, then’ she let out a deep sigh ‘Mattias?’
‘Yeah?’
‘You can leave this farm to us. Your job is done’
‘Oh, already?’
‘We do have a barn that needs clearing’ said Lord Florian ‘Mind you there are just dead horses and cows’
‘That’s no problem’ said Viola
‘I might as well make myself useful’ said Mattias, at the same time.
‘No Mattias!’ shouted Viola ‘You’re dismissed! You’ve done your duty for today! Besides, there’s another thing you need to worry about. Kartine filled me in’ Mattias looked confused ‘She’s waiting for you outside’
‘OK then’ he went for the exit of the manor.
‘Goodbye young lad’ said Lord Florian ‘It was nice meeting you’
‘It was nice meeting you too’ Mattias had now left the manor ‘Not’ he said, as soon as closed the door. Katrine was outside. It was about evening time.
‘So then’ she began ‘Did you have fun doing your little clean up job?’
‘No, Katrine. There’s nothing fun about disposing of dead bodies’
‘Yeah. Kryos purposefully left that part out. Anyway, we must hurry back to that village. The guy we planted the knife on is going to be there any moment’
‘Well, shouldn’t we run then?’
‘Not to worry!’ she wrapped her cloak around Mattias, pointing a wand to the sky. A beam of light engulfed the two of them and they were back at the said village.
Laying on his deathbed due to a terminal illness, Mattias gets greeted by a mysterious woman. His life is saved, but at a cost: he is now a pawn of the underworld.
