"Why does this place look like a cyclone hit it!?" I rage at them.
"Cyclone?" The kangaroo asks.
"Stop standing around and help clean up," I order while picking up rubbish and putting it in a bag.
Roo picks up a piece of paper and puts it in the bag I was holding. Max also picks up something and places it in the bag too.
"Do you know what to do?" I ask.
"Pick up all this stuff off the ground?" He checks.
"Correct," I said handing over the bag and then going to the closet to grab a broom.
I sweep the floor then Roo picks up the rubbish. I mop the wet and sticky parts on the floor. Since we're cleaning this mess might as well do the weekly clean. Clothes in the washing machine then the dryer, dishes in the dishwasher, and finally, dusting, I teach Roo so he can do it himself minus the vacuum cleaner he seems afraid of it. He runs behind the couch so I told him to go back to my room. All finished.
I head to my bedroom, and as soon as I open the door I am yelled at.
"IS THAT THING GONE?" Roo asked in a panic.
"It's alright, I've finished," I speak calmly.
"So it's gone?" He questions poking out of the blanket. Max is lazing next to him on the bed. Nice to see them getting along.
"Yes, it's back in the cupboard."
"Good," he sighs.
"What do you feel like for tea? I'm about to start cooking." I ask.
"Don't know," he had a thoughtful look on his face. "Something with a lot of veggies, please." He grins cheerfully.
"Veggie curry good?"
"Yep,"
.....
It didn't take long to make the curry and rice. I had shown Roo how to use Netflix. It gave him something to do while I cooked. Grabbing the bowls, I made my way to the living room getting to see what Roo had put on. He is so focused on the show that he didn't even look to see me come in. What had captivated him so much was 'My Little Pony.' I place his plate in front of him. Then start on my own. I'll let him finish the episode before I put on a movie for the both of us to watch, let him enjoy what he likes.
After he had his first bite, bringing the spoon closer to his mouth absentmindedly, Roo's eyes ignited. It wasn't long before I watched him nosh down his food. Glad he's enjoying it.
"So, how was your day?" He asks keeping his eyes locked on the screen. "This is great." He adds pointing the spoon at his bowl of curry in his lap.
"Alright, I guess," I said slumping my shoulders.
Roo took his eyes off the movie and then focuses them on me. "What happened?" He was worried. Why?
"It was just an off day for me is all," I say falling back against the lounge.
"What made it off?" At that, a puppy dog look entered his eyes.
"I don't know," I replied glancing at my bowl. "I kind of felt like I was being watched."
"You can tell me anything." Roo gazes away from the TV to peer over at me. "I'll listen to whatever you have to say." He smiles gently.
Should I tell him? Will he understand? At times he seems like a child but right now he's different, almost mutual. It could be alright, after all, he is a kangaroo.
"Were you?"
"Well, when I looked over at the window I saw a sandy-coloured dog with pointed ears," I said while watching the movie. "Then this man that reminded me of the dog ordered at the counter. During that encounter, I sensed something weird about him. Then I had a sudden low."
"What's a low?" I was interrupted.
"A low blood glucose level." I return. "As I was walking home that dog was following me. And that's it, I got home." I finish.
"You should try to stay away from the dingo."
"I will."
Did he say dingo? After that I dismiss him calling the dog a dingo for how could he know it was a dingo? We spent the rest of the night watching movies.
