This morning had started off like any other, calm and slow. At least up until this moment where Simon had just told us all about his and Caspers little fight as he buried himself in negative emotions.
- Have you managed to talk to him yet?
- No...Every time I try to he just avoids me.
- Oh cheer up! I'm sure he just needs some time.
Some time she says. I found it hard to believe that this would heal with a little time, as this wasn’t your typical friend fight. I fiddle with the thin papers of the book in my hands, only listening to their conversion as I was sure this had nothing to do with me. Besides me and Simon weren't actually close, only having had small words shared between us before.
I doubt he wanted my opinion on all of this.
- I don’t think he needs time. I think he needs me to apologize and then give him space. I used him and his feelings for me, just because I had a bad day. I think I need him to hear that, I was in the wrong.
Simon might be “just an omega”, but hearing him say something like that makes him stand out in a different way. Omegas are known to be weak, slutty and selfish, traits that I don’t fancy much being associated with them. However Simon was nothing like that, he was strong, thoughtful and caring for his close ones. Something that I admired.
- Then go and look for him.
- E-Eli!
- You say you need to apologize to him, then don’t give up in trying to make him hear those words.
There was now a sudden silence between the three of us, only the sound of a cold breeze ruffling the trees around us to disrupt it. I could see how both Aria and Simon were shocked by my words, probably not having anticipated that I would say anything. I let my sharp green blue eyes stare into Simons brown ones, not breaking the eye contact as to let him know I was serious.
To my surprise his expression changed, his widened eyes softening and a smile creeping onto his lips. It didn’t take a second before he stood up, brushing the grass off from his jeans before saying a small “thank you”. I simply nodded in response, knowing that he appreciated my words, almost as if he needed to hear that more than anything else. Aria looked even more shocked as both of us watched Simon quickly make his way inside the school building, leaving us in the courtyard. I could finally concentrate on the book in my hand, leaning back against the tree behind me once more. Not that I got to as Aria quickly ripped the book from my hands, giving me a soft smack on the head with it.
- W-what?
- Why are you being so weird lately?
- I-I don’t know...
- Since when did you care that much about Omegas?
- Who said I cared?
- What you just did now... looked a whole lot like you cared buddy. I’m not saying it’s bad though, it’s nice seeing you being all soft.
- Shut up, stop being so noisy and let me read my book.
She simply snorted at me, a big smile on her lips, before backing off and letting me continue to read. I was in no way soft. Not at all.
