Oh, and this time there's more than just Kamiko. There's some kam-eos too, eh, get it?? Get it. Okay, whatever. There are cameos.
I know I should let you guess, but I want to call them out in the text.
On the train platform to the right of Natsumi, we've got Edison Lighthouse, Larry Pye, and Stephanie Rossum from Charlie Wise's comic Groovy, Kinda (www.groovykinda.org). Definitely check his work out. He's an incredible inker and has a way with words. The more obscure the better!
Also, on the train platform off to the very left is Clau from M9 Girls! (m9girls.com/webcomic/en/) Clau happens to also be a magical girl. Does that mean there's potential for a crossover?? Who can say... I mean, I can't I have no idea what's even gonna happen next in my comic.
As for the...train. If you've ever seen the anime Night on the Galactic Railroad based on Kenji Miyazawa's novel, it's an homage to that. Or if you haven't, but you've seen Galaxy Express 999, same deal (although the meaning of the train applies more to the former anime). I really love both of those anime. And...you've seen the Starlight Express in a short Mortal Coil comic that's set, mmm, sometime after this, waaaay after this. The comic is called The Galactic Train and you can read it here:
A bonus thing about Natsumi, she loves baseball (but it's also a pretty big sport in Japan). Her favorite team is the Rakuten Golden Eagles, and that's because she spent her childhood living in the Tohoku region, so it's her home team. Her favorite mangaka: Mitsuru Adachi. She played baseball in middle school and some in high school. Judging from how she's handled ghouls in the past, you might say she's quite the batter.
THIS MORTAL COIL presents a new episodic story about Kamiko. Set in present day, present time Tokyo, the young goddess Kamiko has to find her place as a god, or will she lose her way all together? Find out in this new slice-of-life adventure story!
Updates every Saturday. This is the current story serializing on mortalcoilcomic.com.
