‘OK Mattias’ Katrine began ‘The guy is almost back, we need to get this dead on, OK?’
‘Yeah, OK’ Katrine walked further towards the house they planted the knife on, she was scoping the area. She was then pointing at a man wearing rather fancy clothing.
‘That’s him, Mattias!’ Mattias looked at where she was pointing. ‘We need to wait until he enters the house, then we’ll alert one of the guards’
‘OK’ Katrine then decided to hide behind a hedge, with Mattias doing the same. They did so until the man entered the house.
‘OK! Let’s go and alert one of the guards’
‘I don’t even see any’
‘There should be one in a nearby tavern’
‘Ugh, typical’ the two went over to a tavern that was near to where the house was. Inside was absolutely packed with people barely able to hold their drinks. There were two guards in their uniforms enjoying their drinks. ‘Excuse me?’ the guards were glaring at Mattias. ‘I’ve seen something very suspicious going on in house nearby’
‘Like wot?!’
‘Well, you there has been a murder recently? I saw someone carrying a blood stained knife’
‘Wot?! You can’t be serious! Which house?’
‘Oh come on, can’t we just enjoy our drinks?’ the other guard groaned ‘Most of the town will be ‘ere anyway’
‘You can stay ‘ere. If this turns out to be some monkey business, we’ll resume our drinkin’ as usual’
‘Cool’ Mattias and Katrine lead the guard out of the tavern and towards the house. The man was already outside with bloodstained clothes, heading towards a well.
‘Hey, you there!’ the guard ran a full speed towards the man, who retreated the moment he saw him. The guard tackled him to the ground ‘I’m arresting you on suspicion of murder! Any objections?’
‘I didn’t do it! Someone planted a knife on me!’
‘Huh! That’s what they all say!’ the knife Mattias planted was laying on the ground. The guard shrieked the moment he saw it. ‘Where did you get that?!’
‘I don’t know! Like I said, someone planted it?!’
‘Why did you run, then?! Are you sure I’ll believe your nonsense so quickly?!’
‘No! But honestly, I’ve never seen a knife like that before, and… well…’ the other guard from the tavern came over.
‘Ah, not monkey business, then!’
‘We have ourselves a possible murderer! We’ll need to report this to the captain immediately’
‘OK, I’ll do that!’ Mattias and Katrine walked away as soon as he said that, there were heading back over to the hills.
‘Well done, Mattias!’ she congratulated.
‘But… what if they actually believe him?’ she shook her head.
‘I think that knife really turned their heads. They obviously know where it’s from’
‘OK’ there was a brief period of silence.
‘Well, we might as well go back to the underworld’ Mattias suddenly looked nervous.
‘If you say so’ Katrine wrapped her cloak around Mattias and pointed her wand to the sky. They both ended up back in the underworld, in front of Kyros who was eating meat impaled by a metal spike. Viola was also there, looking away from Mattias with her arms crossed.
‘Nothing tastes better than the taste of human flesh’ declared Kyros ‘You’ve done a fine job today, Mattias! And you are learning organisation and teamwork, something essential for agents of the underworld!’
‘You should also be thanking me for disposing of bodies from a murder scene’ said Mattias ‘It would have been nice if you told me that beforehand’ Kyros burst out laughing.
‘You are amusing! Did you really think you would have an innocent little job cleaning a little farm?! This is the underworld! Nothing you’ll do is innocent! Our duties will always be at the detriment of mankind!’
‘That lord guy didn’t seem too upset by it’
‘Well, I guess you can say not all of mankind! After all, we need them to breed for us to have our amusement! We can’t let them all go extinct! Not that there’s any shortage of them, though! Ha-ha-ha-ha!’ he then looked towards Viola, looking stunned ‘What is wrong, my dear? Usually you would laugh with me!’ Viola had no answer. She looked as if she were about to cry.
‘If you don’t mind, master’ she began ‘I would like to go to my chambers’
‘Very well, you’ve done a great job, as always. And you too, Katrine!’
‘Thank you, master. Just so you’re aware, we managed to get someone else framed for Mattias’ murder’
‘Ah, wonderful! This guy will never know what’s coming! Ha-ha-ha-ha!’ Mattias and Katrine were just looking at him in silence. ‘So Mattias, it’s time for you to return to the dungeon. But fear not! Soon enough you will have your own quarters here! You will truly be one of us soon!’
‘Yaaay, can’t wait’ said Mattias. Kyros looked angry after he said that and cast a spell on him. He ended up back in the dungeon.
Laying on his deathbed due to a terminal illness, Mattias gets greeted by a mysterious woman. His life is saved, but at a cost: he is now a pawn of the underworld.
