Halloween Day
M |
iserably, I follow Justin into the party, my shoulders slumping forward with irritation. I don’t know why I need to go to this, knowing that nobody is going to talk to me because all they care about is Justin and winning over his favor. Winning him over is by getting to me.
“Come on, Alex,” Justin murmurs, wrapping his arm around my shoulders, squeezing me softly, “I want you to get your mind off of everything, and just have a good time.”
I glance at the clock, seeing it is about four hours from midnight. I thought that I would have some sign of Salem, but it is like he dropped off the face of the Earth.
Maybe he actually was a figment of my imagination. I frown, not even wanting to think about that, hating the fact that it could very possibly be true. Have I been going insane? That could be an even bigger case if you ask me.
“Justin, there you are!” I hear a familiar voice call out, causing me to stiffen, “I was wondering when you were going to show up here!”
I look up, fighting the urge to roll my eyes when I see Liam Johnson standing there, a big smile on his disgustingly handsome face.
Liam is another jock, and one of Justin’s closest friends. He is a handsome man, I must admit. He is the typical jock with rippling muscles and tan skin from his time out in the sun. His short blonde hair is a golden mess on the top of his head, and his blue eyes are as clear as the sky. The funniest thing is the moment his eyes land on me, his smile immediately drops, and I see the coldness in his eyes.
Yeah, he does not like me, and I don’t like him.
“Alex.” He coldly mutters.
“Liam.” I am equally as prissy.
His eyebrows shoot up in surprise because I don’t normally talk back to him, “wow, who pissed in your cheerios?”
I push past him, not even wanting to deal with him. I heard Liam scoff behind me, like I am the one who did something wrong. I knew that I am giving him a bit of attitude, but I couldn’t really give a damn about it.
He has not liked me for as long as I can remember, not even for a valid reason either. Supposedly one of the first days that we met, I had given him some sort of attitude and he decided that it was a reason to not like me for the rest of his life.
“HEY!” Liam calls after me, an edge in his voice that rubs me the wrong way, “Alex, stop!”
I freeze, slowly turning around to look at him, wondering what could be his problem. He’s looking at me like I’m gum on the bottom of his shoe, and it makes my blood boil. I really don’t need to be getting into a fight with him but the way he is looking at me is making me feel like we’re about to fight. He doesn’t even stop either until we are toe to toe, glaring down at me. I jut my chin up in defiance, seeing how everyone is now looking at us curiously.
“This is my party, Alex.” Liam murmurs coldly, his blue eyes full of hatred, “you should be happy that I even let Justin bring you since I can’t stand your pathetic ass, but you’re wishing buttons. If you can’t respect me and my home, you can leave.”
“I didn’t even want to come in the first place.” I hiss, feeling my blood pulsing through my veins, “I only did to make Justin happy.”
Suddenly, Liam shoves me on my shoulders, startling me since I hadn’t been expecting it. I stumble back, quickly regaining my footing before I hit the ground.
Once I compose myself, I glare up at him, really wishing I could just smack the smirk off of his face. It pissed me off to no extent that he thought he could just put his hands on me with no consequences.
“What was that for?” I demand, angry.
Liam shrugs his shoulders, “I’m tired of you acting like an entitled bitch.”
“And I’m tired of you acting like an asshole!” I scream at him, wishing Salem would just come and find me.
Liam’s eyes flare with rage and he raises his fist. I honestly thought he was going to punch me, and instinctively, I raise my arms to protect my face.
“Don’t you dare touch him!”
I freeze, the familiar voice sending a tremble down my body. I look over, seeing the crowd parting to let him through. His black eyes meet mine, and a soft smile plays on his lips as he looks at me.
“Salem…”
