Day After Halloween
T |
he moment I woke up, I knew that I am alone. The spot beside me is cold, like there wasn’t a body beside me for hours. Shooting straight up in bed, I glance at the clock and see that it is eight in the morning.
Tears well in my eyes, my heart pounding in my chest as I try to recall the moment Salem disappeared, but it’s lost in my best. At one point while making love, I must’ve fallen asleep from too much exhaustion.
It’s the only thing that makes sense at this point.
I curl up, trying to ignore the pain raging through my body but I couldn’t stop the tears. I knew this was going to happen but now that it has, it felt like my whole world is sinking. I didn’t want to let him go, I wanted him by my side.
I didn’t even get to say goodbye.
I should’ve stayed awake.
“Salem.” I mumble, feeling the bitterness in my heart now.
“Alex, what’s wrong?”
My head jerks up and I see Salem standing in the doorway, holding a tray of food with concern on his face as he looks at me. He only wears a pair of sweatpants, and to my surprise, his hair is no longer black, but a golden brown.
How is he here?
“I thought you were gone.” I whispered, feeling my body shaking from confusion.
He smiles slightly, “I know. I thought I would, too, but the Reaper came to me and told me that no human has ever loved a dead man before like this, and he decided to let me stay here with you as a living human now. I’m never leaving you, Alex. Not now. Not ever.”
I smile broadly as I jump out of the bed, seeing him sit down the tray of food before I spring into his arms, feeling his arms wrap around me and not wanting to let go. His body feels warm now, and I can hear the wild thumping of his now beating hard.
He's alive.
He’s here with me.
I eagerly meet his lips with my own, desperate to touch him now, “make me Scream, Salem. Now and forever.”
His eyes darken now, and he drags me over to the bed, ripping off his clothing in the process, doing exactly that.
I’m never letting this man go.
