Robin Floshem's POV As me and Noah were watching the assignator do his work, we couldn't help but smile. Lucy's facial expressions had told us enough, especially her vibrant smile when they were walking back towards us. She is strong, almost like a sister to me. To see her so happy and excited made me want to go run up and give her a giant hug, congradulating her. But as they walked closer, I felt a creeping sensation of disapproval, not towards Noah or Lucy, but to myself. What if I wasn't good enough like the others tell me I am? Yes I can use mana arts unlike my parents, but what if I'm told that I cannot use it for the greater good? Will I be kicked out and go back to being a weakling, getting bullied with no strength or resolve to protect myself?
As these thoughts came rushing at me like a tidal wave, I forced myself to stop. Don't think like that, Robin. They saved you from those bullies when you were at your weakest, calling you their friend. You have become stronger, even if you are told you cannot grow you can use what you know to the best of your abilities. I can go to school and learn to control my powers further, and maybe prove the assignator wrong. Prove to myself that I too can become someone worth while.
Lucy came trodding back next to me, practically jumping with joy but keeping a professional stature. I looked over and hugged her, congradulating and telling her that I am proud of her.
The charming man clad in black armor stood in silence, trying to contain his amusement to the best of his abilities before clearing his throat.
"The elven beauty, you're up next," he stated, going back to his stern yet focused look.
"Y-yes sir.." I trodded over to him, anxiety washing over me. This is it, the fruits of my labor.
As I walked closer to him, his face fell into a warm and gentle smile, allowing his eyes to soften up as well.
"Your name, Ma'daam?"
"R-Robin Floshem, s-sir."
I am so nervous, I thought to myself. I could feel my face burning up, trying to keep the shaking to a minimum.
"Are you nervous, Robin?" he asked, placing a hand on my shoulder. "Everything is going to be okay, so do your best."
I looked up at him and looked away just as quickly, giving a slight nod. "Y-yes sir. What would you like me to do first?"
He kneeled down, extending his arms.
"First things first, I need to examine your mana orb. Stick out your arms like this and focus on bringing it out, visualizing it makes it easier."
I gave him an uncertain look and did as he asked, closing my eyes and extending my arms. I felt the soft pressure of energy travel through my arms and out of my palms, a soft burning sensation tingling on my insignia. The translucent ball shifted and grew, gaining momentum and speed as if it was a tornado forming. As the air around us shifted, so did the shape of the ball as its edges extended out and formed a diamond, with what seemed like a heavy gust trapped inside the prism.
I opened my eyes and looked at Avan, who was looking at it with deep concentration. Whether it was my eyes playing tricks on me or not, his right eye seemed to glow, but as I tried looking at it from a better angle the light faded away.
"You can put it away now, Miss Robin," he stated, a smile creeping along his face.
"That's two for two now, your affinity towards wind mana arts rivals that of soldiers, and you're still just a child. Given proper training, there is no doubt that you can even aquire an elite level mana arts."
I looked at him with shock, and nodded my head as if trying to swing it off. I can't believe it, I have the strength needed! I was trying my best not to cry as I remembered that he still had to check my insignia to see where I was. But nonetheless, this was heartwarming to hear,
"Show me where your insignia is located, Miss Robin. This will be the final examination, elves are typically very quick to examine but a lot of focus is needed," Avan stated, writing in his notebook ferociously.
I nodded and turned around, revealing my insignia mark. I felt him creep closer and felt the touch of his finger rest on my insignia, a cool chill running throughout my body. After what felt like a few minutes he took it off, listening to him jot down more notes.
"Miss Robin, just like Lady Lucy you are currently a 3 mark insignia. Coming from a family with no mana affinity, your growth will be rough yet you possess the potential to become considerably strong. As mentioned before, your natural affinity towards wind mana arts will cause you to be highly sought after as a student and a warrior, so please train well and become strong. Congradulations."
