"Bye, honey, have fun, and remember don't stay up too late," my mum says, as I walk out the door, discreetly having reminded me that if I'm out too late I'm probably going to look like a zombie for the family braai tomorrow. 

"I know mum" I yell back. 

I walk out of the house closing the bronze door behind me and begin walking towards my blue motorbike. 

With each step I take towards it, you can just see its glistening colour reflect off the afternoon sun.

I get on my bike and travel down the road ahead, passing all the other houses on my street and eventually getting to the curb where houses stop and soon all you see are the trees, with their massive branches outstretched towards the sky.

Finally, I reach the forest. 

I park my bike alongside the road and begin walking into the forest.

I pass a few trees, looking around for any sight of a party, until I hear the noises...

The noises get louder and louder with each step I take further into the forest, I hear sounds of laughter, chatter, and even music, that's how I know I'm close.

I walk past more trees and my peers start coming into view.

I managed to spot Ingene with her floral dress and her short pin-straight brunette hair, laughing at what I assume was a joke Jasper said, as he stands adjacent to her with a smile plastered onto his face, with his green eyes illuminating his smile, as his wavy burgundy blonde hair falls neatly into place.

Ingene and Jasper are my best friends for life, practically family, we've known and been there for each other from the time we were born. 

Jasper having been a day older than Ingene and Ingene being 10 hours older than me, basically, we were all born the day after one another- awesome, I know! 

Ingene spots me as I get closer to them and gives me a subtle wave, " What took you so long?" She questions, jokingly. 

"You know I'm on time" I respond back with a smile on my face.

"Well, now the party can really start with the full trio here!" Jasper says excitedly, as I give him a hug.

"Damn right it can!" I say as I finish hug Ingene. 

"Can you guys believe it, we're done with school!" I exclaim excitedly.

"Yip, now the real adventure begins, " Ingene says as if she's been waiting for this her whole life.

"Jasper, do you wanna come help set up the bonfire?" A deep voice says coming from behind us.

"Okay, cool, I'll be right there," Jasper says to the voice I have yet to put a face to.

" Well ladies, I'm off to work, duty calls" he winks at us as he leaves to help set up for the bonfire.

Both Ingene and I face in the general direction that he walks away in and I see the face to the voice, it's Archer, he's the best football player our school has, not only that but he's not as arrogant or rude as some of the football players are from our school, like in terms of if he bumps you by mistake he'll help pick up the books you dropped and then apologize... though he's definitely not one to mess with, he might seem nice and all but people know not to mess with him! 

His baby blue eyes pierce into my hazel eyes as if there was treasure to be found. 

I break eye contact and see from the corner of my eye that he begins to walk towards the bonfire they're setting up.

His dirty blonde hair cascades to the side, making his comb-over look perfect.

The bonfire seems to be done now, as I see the flames ignite brightly against the wood.

We all start to surround ourselves in the general area of the bonfire, so everyone is in eyesight and not too far away.

I'm left holding Ingene's cup as she needed to go to the bathroom... I watch as people around me chatter happily with such contentment.

Suddenly everything gets darker, I can hear cries and screams of terror.
