Being a space bridge repair bot was a less-than-glamorous job. The old bot was grouchy and seems to be apprehensive of him but Optimus guessed like his former Tactical Non-Commissioned Officer he would eventually warm up to him. He did, a little longer than Optimus expected but old Ratchet grew to more than tolerate him. Ratchet even helped Optimus improve his basic medical knowledge. That was a different story when it came to two new members of their crew. Apparently one of them washed out from Autobot Boot Camp the other qualified to be a Space Bridge Technician. Surprisingly high on the Space Bridge Aptitude Test. If he scored better for other discernable skills he could be an engineer. Optimus sympathized with Bumblebee who too seem to still have a strong desire for greatness. At least he still has a friend, a brother who wants to have his back.

He still feels guilty over what happened to Elita and he understands Sentinel's resentment but he grew a little fed up with his harassing messages of blaming and calling him a lowly repair bot. He did have some hopes of other than the good of being a repair bot he may be able to convince Magnus to allow Bumblebee to return to Autobot Bootcamp after making him multiple steps ahead of many other freshly recruited bots.
