He wants my rage once again. Ramondo was groaning in pain as he held the back of his head. He was bleeding and bruised from the areas I hit him at. As Ramondo turned to face us, I gave Seth my hand. I felt the same sensation as before, but this time it’s stronger. My arm became numb quickly and I had to breathe through it because it felt like burning; his hand is hot to the touch. Seth’s eyes glowed, his pupils turning into slits, nails turning into claws, and his veins begin to pulsate. He has a crazed look on his face as he takes my rage.
When he let my hand go, it took a lot out of me besides a numb arm. I couldn’t move my body at all, Seth had to carry me in his arms. I am able to move my neck and head to look at Seth as he growled when he breathed, glaring at Ramondo.
“Ramondo Scottley.” He speaks. “I know every misdeed you have done. I know the people you have wronged, harassed, manipulated, and assaulted. Even with the position you had as an officer, you have betrayed the trust of the women you have wronged. It is now time for you to pay the price.”
I looked to Ramondo who was being dragged closer to the two of us, Seth was causing this. He set Ramondo in front of us, they were face to face. As Seth’s eyes glowed, the light in Ramondo’s eyes disappeared. I think Seth is showing all of Ramondo’s sins, making him experience what his victims felt. Tears start flowing down his face, Seth’s eyes stop glowing, and he asks Ramondo.
“So. What do you intend to do, Ramondo Scottley?”
Within moments, Ramondo turned and walked away from us. He picks up his gun. I see him cock it and turn it on himself. I quickly turn away and not a moment too soon, the sound of a gunshot fills the air. The moment I heard his body hit the ground; I heard running footsteps coming our way. It was the people in the fields that were coming. Seth wasn’t in a hurry to leave with me, he just stayed and waited for them to come.
. . .
I turned my head and saw the mob come out of the sunflower field and into the clearing. As they came close, the first thing they saw was Ramondo’s body and they looked with disbelief. The mob was a group of seven men with guns, blades, and flashlights. I’ve seen them in the town, but I never thought to know who they were nor their names. They looked at us; Seth’s eyes glowed as he glared at them ready for anything.
“You… you killed Ramondo. Didn’t you?!” one of the men asks Seth.
The only thing Seth did was smirk as they stared at him with disbelief and malice. The man points the gun at us which made me turn away.
“Did that demon will you to do that to Ramondo?!”
That question made Seth’s smirk disappear, I guess the man was referring me as a demon. Not a moment too soon, the gun gets taken out of the man’s hands and is pointed back at him, Seth was using his power.
“Let us get this sorted out.” He says sternly. “She does not control me, nor do I control her! We have a mutual understanding on what needs to be done to this town.”
“And what do you think needs to be done to this town?” A second man asks with his shotgun pointed at us.
Bad idea. Seth takes away his weapon the same way he takes the first guy’s gun and points it right at him. Seth is now annoyed.
“It is a shame that none of you have a trace of common sense implanted in those brains of yours. Not. A. One.” He comments. “The chaff needs to be separated from the wheat. Unfortunately, there are very slim pickings here. That is what needs to be done here. Since you all have come to hunt Talia, that is also the reason why I am here. To protect her from demons such as yourselves. You all are vermin that I must eradicate.”
Seth shows his fangs as he talks and showing them proudly as he smiles. The men, seeing this form of him, drop their weapons, they look at him with fear, even the first guy dropped to knees and starts to plead.
“Please… Oh please. Spare me. Spare us! This wasn’t our idea!” He pleads to Seth.
“I know. Even though you decided to go through with it regardless. I am the wrong being you should be pleading with, and your god is not going to answer you.”
“Please, spare us! If you do, we promise we won’t harm Talia anymore! I swear!”
“You swear on what?”
“I swear… on my life I won’t cause harm to her. I don’t know about the others, but I swear I won’t ever again!”
I look to all of the men, how they all were cowering in fear and also dropping to their knees. As amusing as this is to see, I turn to Seth.
“I want you to let them feel what I’ve felt.” I told him. “Let them see what I’ve seen, so they can understand why you’re here.”
I then look to the men and add.
“How they look, I feel they could be of use.”
Finally able to move my body, I signal Seth to put me down and he dropped the two weapons on the ground so he could use his abilities. As I look at them, they all look stunned at first, then a look of fear set in. I guess my trauma is helping them understand why I am the way I am and why this is happening.
“Oh… my… God…” The first man comments in a dreadful tone. “Solomon really did that to you?”
I nod.
“I feel like… such a fool…”
“How could we have been so blinded?” The second man asks aloud.
“Yes. How could you all have been so blinded?” Seth mocks him. “Grown men such as yourselves hunting down an 18-year-old girl!”
“Who told you all to hunt me down?” I ask the men.
“Elder Denby.” The first man replies. “After the mayor made Gino fire Ramondo, Ramondo went to the church and said what had happened to the Preacher. Denby then put him in charge of a search group to find you.”
“You mean Denby put him in charge of a small mob to hunt me down and kill me.”
“…Yes.”
“And you all decided to go through with it.”
“Due to the rumors you all deemed were “facts”.” Seth adds.
None of the men answered which made Seth scoff. Understandable. Tinton men such as these seven are mostly sheep, sadly. But since that’s how they are, they might as well be put to good use by us. I look to Seth; he knows what I want to do, and he nods. We look to the seven men.
“Ronald McNeal. Jerry Moreau. Aseno Sommers. Edward Graves. Sammy Burton. Robert White. Alger Manford.” Seth calls all their names getting their attention. “Talia and I want you all to end the search and say you could not find her, bring Scottley’s body back to Levi, and if you all want to, start questioning his motives. That would be amusing for me to watch. So, your lives are spared… for the time being. Go.”
The seven men put their weapons away or back in their holsters, pick up and carry Ramondo’s body along with his weapon, and started walking back to town. As I saw them walk away, Seth touched my shoulder, getting my attention.
“Go back to the tree and get some rest.” He says to me. “Whoever comes near the tree now, they have signed their lives to me.”
With those words, he disappears as smoke dark as the sky, and I went to walk through the sunflower field so I can go back to the tree to finally sleep. I made it back to the tree but laying down was hard for me to do. My sides hurt so bad since I got kicked in the ribs. I think they’re bruised, and it even hurts when I breathe in, hope they’re not broken. Luckily, I’m able to lay down. I hope that whatever power Seth has, he can be able to heal them. As of now, I need to sleep…
