After speaking with some of his followers, Luke told them some good news. "The Haunt has been reported travelling towards a village; let's see if any of the people have seen it." Everyone thought that was a good idea, and they set off. Coming along with the exorcist was his assistant, a boy about Markel's age called Sam. He and Markel quickly got talking… "So, what's it like working for the Knights as a squire? Is it exciting?" Asked Sam eagerly. "Well", Markel began replying,"It has its moments…"
Soon they arrived at the village. It looked completely normal, but as they drew closer, they saw people retreating inside their houses, fear widening their eyes. Suddenly, a gruff voice said "Can I help you?" "Yes, we need to ask some questions" said Sir Dawson smoothly. "We need to kn" "We don't want people like you round here." "I beg your pardon!" Sir Louis exclaimed." "I said, We don't want people like you around here!" Nervously, the Knights turned around and saw the mass of villagers clutching makeshift weapons. "N-now now, no need to" began Luke. The villagers charged as the Knights drew their weapons. "Markel!, Sam!, protect Luke!" Shouted Sir Dawson, throwing them a knife. Markel caught his nimbly; Sam dropped his and ran after the other two too scared to be embarrassed. The clang of metal and war cries filled the air. Sir Louis was fighting back to back with another Knight, Sir Bacrin, each taking on a peasant. The Knights were trained professionals and dispatched them easily but there was a seemingly endless amount of them. All of a sudden, the fight slowed to a standstill. "Yeah, that's right!, drop your weapons!" Shouted Sir Dawson.
