~ Raven Vertalli ~
Nervously, I lead Liam towards my parents’ house, trying to calm the pounding in my chest. I wasn’t sure how it was going to go with me bringing an Alpha home with me because I haven’t done so in a very long time, knowing that I didn’t want to bring someone home unless I was a hundred percent sure I was going to be with them for the rest of my life.
“Are you okay?” Liam asks me softly, gently squeezing my hand in his, “you seem a little… nervous.”
“I am nervous.” I murmur, shaking my head softly, “I haven’t brought anyone home for the longest time and this is the first time I’m bringing an Alpha home who I am actually serious about.”
Liam smiles, cupping the back of my head as he kisses my forehead softly, “well, I’m glad to be one of the first, and honestly, the last who you will bring home. It is an honor.”
Before I could say or do anything else, the front door flies open.
“Raven, my baby!” I hear mom yell, a big smile on her face as she looks at me and then at Liam, “is this Liam? He’s so handsome, Raven!”
Mom rushes forward and hugs me tightly, looking like she doesn’t want to let me go before turning to Liam. She hugs him, a big smile on her face as she looks like she doesn’t want to let go of him either.
I do not look like mom as she is an Omega like me. Her name is Martha Vertalli, and she has done the unthinkable by becoming a nurse when everyone expected her to be a stay-at-home mom like every other Omegas. Times have changed since her time, and we are still treated like we are beneath Alphas, but I did what she did and I became a teacher like I have always wanted to.
She has long, straight blonde hair and piercing grey eyes. We are the same height thankfully, but mom has fair skin and a lean, slightly muscular body for an Omega. She’s just not what you’d expect, and even Liam looks a little confused as well since mom is different.
Dad on the other hand is what you would expect an Alpha to be. At six-five, he has tan skin and a muscular frame for a doctor. He has short brown hair and ocean blue eyes, and has a knack for being an asshole at times to those he does not know.
Hence now.
“So this is the Alpha who had the balls to touch my son?” Dad grumbles, glaring coldly at Liam, “without asking for his hand, too.”
Liam smiles even though it is obvious that dad is being a little hostile, “hello, Mr. Vertalli, my name is Liam Hall. Thank you for allowing me to come here to have Thanksgiving dinner with you and your family, it is a great honor.”
Dad’s eyes narrow even more, a frown on his face, “I see. Well, come on in then, Samantha and Alex are waiting.”
Samantha and Alex are my younger twin siblings who are a lot younger than me. They are fraternal twins, and could be nothing alike.
Alex is an Alpha, and going to be exactly like one should be. He has short brown hair and blue eyes, and is almost as tall as dad at six-two. He has tan skin and a muscular frame from playing sports since he is the captain of the basketball team. Nobody could even dare to oppose him, that much is obvious.
He is also wanted by many Omegas, that much is obvious as well. Then, he has his twin sister, Samantha. She is an Omega, and looks a lot like me. She has long, straight black hair and sky blue eyes. She is the same height with fair skin and a curvy body. She is very outgoing for an Omega, and even joined the cheerleading team. She’s made it clear though that she likes women instead of men, and not many guys can understand that.
“Alex! Sam!” I greet them as I see they are sitting on the couch, “how have you been? It’s been a while.”
“We’ve been good!” Samantha murmurs, smiling slightly, “mom and dad told us that you have a mate now? We’re excited to meet him.”
Liam steps into the living room, a big smile on his face, “hi, my name is Liam. Raven has spoken much about you while we have been sitting down, and talking about things. How have you guys been?”
“We have been good.” Samantha tells him, reaching out to shake his hand, “I know who you are. You’re that Marine, right? The one who just came back home.”
Liam’s smile falters slightly, “how did you know that? Not many people know it.”
Alex glances up, a cold look on his face, “oh, it has spread around that you were with this guy named Kasey and when you came home, you saw that he was mated with someone else. And now looky here, you used my brother as a back up plan.”
Liam looks like he had just been smacked in the face, a hurt look in his eyes. I don’t know how these two have heard of it, but I need to get to the bottom of this.
“Where did you hear this?” I demand to know, balling my hands into fists, “that is not entirely true. Who has been spreading rumors?”
“I’m guessing it is his ex.” Alex murmurs, his voice going out a little softer, “I’m sorry, I thought that you were using my brother for your own selfish needs.”
Liam smiles sadly and shakes his head, “I understand where you are coming from, Alex, and I see why you are being protective over your brother. I know how it looks, but I promise you that I am not using Raven. We might not have become mated in the most proper of ways, I don’t regret a single thing. Not with him by my side.”
Alex and Samantha are now looking at him curiously, as if they hadn’t expected him to say anything like that. I let out a deep sigh, knowing that I need to step aside and let things happen the way that they need to. Mom and dad are watching the exchange from the doorway as well, looking as equally as curious.
“Raven and I are becoming quite close.” Liam admits, wrapping his arm around my shoulders, “he is everything that I could ever hope for, and it’s a little sad that I didn’t realize it sooner while we were in high school. It would’ve saved the both of us a lot time.”
I immediately see Alex relax now, looking like he had been cautious of Liam because of everything that he has been hearing due to Kasey. It makes my blood boil to think that this bastard has been spreading stuff around and making it so everyone thinks that our relationship now is some sort of scam. Honestly, I want to punch him in the face if he wasn’t pregnant, I would have done so.
I can’t believe that we actually used to be friends until he pulled the bullshit that he did. It’s a good thing that he did all of this because I wouldn’t have Liam in my grasp now…
I push away the dark, Omega needs inside of me that is pushing for me to go all of the way with Liam. The final way for an Omega and Alpha to officially bond is when the Alpha knots their Omega, and brands them officially. The Omega doesn’t all of the time mark the Alpha as well, but it does happen, and I really want to do that more than anything else in the world right now.
“Well, dinner is ready for whenever we are ready.” Mom tells us, moving into the dining room now, “I have everything set up.”
I take Liam’s hand and eagerly drag him into the dining room, finding the spot where we sit together. Liam holds out the chair for me and lets me sit down before scooting me in. I smile slightly at him, loving the way he is pretty much the perfect Alpha that an Omega could wish for.
“Well, who would like to say the Thanksgiving speech?” Mom asks, looking around the table, “Liam, would you like to?”
Liam’s cheeks flush slightly, but he rises to his feet, “sure, I would love to. Thank you for allowing me to become a part of this family, and for allowing me into your home. There are a lot of things that I can be thankful for right now, but the first thing would have to be having met Raven again, and becoming a part of his life. Things don’t go the way that I would hope it to, but I will say that he is the one thing that I would never change. He’s a good person, and I’ll never forget what he has done for me.”
Liam places his hand on my shoulder.
“I’m proud to be your Alpha, Raven.” Liam murmurs softly, “and I hope that you feel the same way about me.”
Liam raises his glass.
“To new beginnings.” Liam announces, smirking.
We all raises our glasses and repat, “to new beginnings.”
Once the speech is over, we sit down and dig into dinner, enjoying the food that is on the table. Mom make a delicious dinner, and I wish that I could be as good of a cook as she is, it would make everything better.
“This has been wonderful, Mrs. Vertalli.” Liam murmurs, finishing his second plate of food, “I don’t think I have tasted anything as good before.”
“Thank you, Liam.” Mom murmurs softly, “but don’t worry about that Mrs. Vertalli crap, you can just call me mom, okay?”
Liam smiles, bowing his head, “thank you… mom.”
I smile slightly to myself, just holding his hand, wondering what could happen now. Holding Liam’s hand beneath the table, I can’t help but realize how beautifully things have gone, and all because I waited for him.
Now, I just need to do the one thing that an Omega does best…
Love their Alpha thoroughly.
