Content Warning: Violence, Murder, Swearing, Blood, Gore
I didn't want to wait any longer, I had no choice either way.
Enter now or wait to get pounced, maybe my target wasn't even inside. I had to enter the dark soggy cave now!
As I entered I tried to look around in the pitch black darkness, all I could see were rocks and mud, but then I spotted something that sent my heart racing. Footprints heading deeper into the cave. I slowly pulled out my sword, trying to not make any sound that would alert potential enemies. Venturing deeper into the cave I came to an end with a metal door, clearly something that didn't belong in any normal cave. Slowly opening the metal door, I saw light, dimmly lit torches were on the walls of a hallway leading to god knows where. Continuing forward, I made my way across more doors and rooms, mostly empty to my suprise. In one of the larger rooms I found stairs leading deeper down, preparing for what may come I carefuly decend the stairs. Just before I reached the end of the stairs, I heard people talking. Adrenaline rushing thru my body as I entered another hallway. Following the voices, I reached a libary filled with countless books. Peeking over the shelves I spotted them, two members of the Imperial Doctrine talking.
"We need to get this over with already!" the one on the left exclaimed. "Patience, we must not be reckless." the other one on the right answered. "Silence! Stop whining, we have a mission to complete, do not forget that." a dark shadow from behind them said, he came forward. He was tall, wearing a white armor with red and gold. I was sure, this was my target, the High Council Member of the Imperial Doctrine, this wasn't going to be easy but there was no going back now.
Using the element of surprise, I rushed forward, seemingly appearing out of nowhere, my sword slashed through the neck of the person on the right, blood splashed everywhere as the blade of my sword cut through his muscles and reached his spine, a faint crack could be heared as my sword continued its way slicing though his neck, he fell forward, blood spurting everywhere. The other person to his left started screaming at the top of his lungs and reached for his sword, but I was faster, in one swift motion my blade cut of the arm that was reaching for the sword. Before he could process what had happened, I had already dug my sword deep into his chest, he died instantly as my sword passed multiple bones and went straight through his heart. Now there was only my target left, but I had wasted too much time with the other two, the High Council Member had already grabbed his sword and was now sprinting towards me at full force, he lunged forward almost landing a hit as I had trubble keeping my footing on the now in blood covered floor. Jumping to the side to escape his sword, I quickly started my counter attack, hoping that he didn't expect my immediate reaction, I aimed for his neck, which wasn't protected by his thick armor. Unfortunately he had already expected my move, quickly swinging his sword back to protect his neck. He was fast, almost too fast in that heavy armor, our swords colided for a second, I managed to put a cut on him. Now bleeding from his neck, his face which had remained indifferent changed to anger and disgust. "You shall pay for your sins!" he screamed as he launched forward, not able to react in time, his sword dug into my shoulder, blood spurting everywhere as I screamed in pain. Damm it, he had hit the arm I was wielding my sword with, I tried to swing my sword back at him, but my arm woulnd't move. Paniking, I reached for the dagger on my leg with my other arm. I quickly took hold of the dagger and rammed it into his right leg as hard as I could. Shit! I was loosing blood fast, my vision was getting blurry. The High Council Member didn't even react to my dagger piercing his leg, instead he took both of his hands and put them on my neck. Unable to breathe, I tried to wiggle myself free from his grasp. Unable to move my right arm with his sword still ludged into my shoulder, my left arm went for his face, scratching him, trying to get him to stop. But to no avail, pain and fear overcame me as I felt everything around me fade. I was plunged into darkness, drowning in it.
Interesting, did you think he would win? The MC is not some overpowered hero, just a normal or rather regular person. Sorry to disappoint your hopes.
The next chapter will be a little longer, so look forward to that.
