Yes, this is an ode to the job interviews I've had this past year! In nearly every interview, the interviewer was late, had a super messy desk, and I even had one where their kid walked in during the middle of our meeting! Of course, I didn't mind and kept professionalism. Yet it all ended in a rejection email.
However, one interview in my own company resulted in a rejection, I emailed the hiring manager for feedback, got ignored, and then found out that the person who got hired over me was the hiring manager's daughter who only had a high school degree and whose only job experience was in fast food.
And yes, I am actually an MBA and have 4 years of account management and product support experience.
The little extra panel at the end was an ode to a time a recruiter called me just to reject me. I told her it was alright and that I appreciate her assistance, but she immediately hung up on me before I could even ask her for feedback.
Welcome to interview hell! From my past experience (hospitality managerial position many years ago) and what my missus tells me (Oxford Uni) it always seems to be the case many employers already have internal candidates lined up but need to give a certain amount of interviews to appease HR bureaucracy. Total waste of everyone's time.
