Dear mother,

Since you did not reply to my last letter and have not done so in quite some time, I had to confront Father on my own.

It was before supper. I went to his study and found him reading his paper near the fireplace. I politely interrupted him and told him what I heard him saying to Ms. Keyes. At first, he had no answer for me. He then started mumbling something about trying to protect me. I could not understand. Then he left, and I have not spoken to him since. I took supper on my own and then retreated to my room.

Tomorrow I shall endeavor the same with Ms. Keyes. One of them shall provide me with the truth.
