Adonael couldn't help but be a little jealous of Domencio. I mean, how dare he approach Ken so quickly?
How could Ken even talk to that guy without being slightly put off by him? It wasn't even that Domencio was hitting on him, but their proximity was too close. Ken's smile seemed to brighten when it came to Ciarda and Domencio. At least to him, it did. So when Ken had decided to go to the bar with them, he was more than a little shocked, but Adonael intended to never stop him from living. Not one bit. Still, his face when he had declared it was so funny...Adonael did think about leaving early and walking home alone to tell Ken he had learned his lesson but to be very honest, he knew he couldn't do that. He couldn't leave Ken by himself, even for just a bit. So when his employees left, he followed along with them.
So here he was, arms crossed and smugly sitting next to Ken. Ken gave him a hard stare. "...What are you doing here?" He asked as he turned straight ahead and began sipping from his mug.
The atmosphere was different, to say the least, and maybe It was the alcohol, but Domencio couldn't help but chuckle. The two lovebirds sitting across from him turned their head in curiosity toward them. "You guys are already really close, huh?" He asked as he leaned on his hand. Once Ciarda saw how relaxed Domencio became, she also gained the confidence to say something. "Yeah...You guys walk home together after work every day, don't you? I was wondering about that! Are you guys roommates or something?" She asked as an innocent enough question, but there was a glint in her eyes that was trying to find something else. Adonael cocked an eyebrow, "...What a weird question." He deflected.
"It's not, sir." Ciarda backed.
"It is."
Domencio and Ken stifled a laugh. Ken gave a bright smile, finally allowing himself to turn to Adonael. "It's not that big of a deal. Yes, we live together." He confirmed.
"I knew it!" Ciarda said, standing up victoriously. It caught Adonael by surprise, but he finally gave in. He raised a hand toward the waitress, "A cocktail, please. Any will do." Ken tilted his head. "A cocktail? Just get a beer like everyone else!" He said. Adonael shook his head, "I don't drink yeast water. My palate is much more refined!"
"That means you're picky! Drink up, come on!" He said quickly, shoving his beer in Adonael's face, a warm red glow dusting Ken's cheeks. Adonael stared at Ken. he sighed and grabbed the mug, beginning to chug it down. The other three watched in amazement...Adonael slammed the cup down and smirked at Ken. "...Now, let me have my cocktail." He said a mischievous look on his face. Ken could feel his face brow hotter by the minute. But it had to be the alcohol.
The night went on like that; with the new attention of their boss, the conversation turned livelier by the hour. When it was time to go, Ken was practically hanging off Adonael. Adonael waved goodbye to the two, who were also OK with the amount of alcohol they consumed. Seriously...They only had about six glasses. Was Ken a lightweight? Still, they waved their goodbyes and went off in their separate ways. Adonael figured he could get a cab for them, but since he wasn't tired, he thought of another idea. He smiled gently, watching Ken doze off on his arm. He grabbed Ken and pulled him up. He held him bridal style, and they began making their way home.
A year ago, if you had told Adonael he would be taking a drunk Ken home in his arms after a long night, he would ask how he could make that happen. What was worse and made him feel guilty were the circumstances that befell them. If he could choose a possible relationship with Ken between Michael still being alive and well, he would prefer that Ken is happy with Michael. If he could bring back Michael now, he would die in a heartbeat. But he couldn't. Adonael had always been content with just watching from afar. He looked back at Ken, who had been snuggled up to him this whole time. He blushed brightly. "...You must be a lightweight. You wouldn't cling to me like this otherwise...That's OK. Take your time Ken. I'll be right here." He mumbled. It was quiet on the way home.
"How dare he..." A deep voice rumbled as the being watched Adonael carry his beautiful human off. "Your hands...Get your dirty hands off..." It repeated.
They had been watching Ken far longer than he had. They were madly in love with him, always had been. Even now, watching from the building above, Ken looked divine in the streetlight as they passed. The being narrowed their glowing eyes. The lust and obsession they felt for the man were criminal. They wanted to rip him out of that bastard's hands, take him far away to a place he could never leave. Kenneth would be theirs. Never to see the light of day. But the being knew they had to be patient. They weren't going through all of this work for nothing. The being rubbed something between their fingers. "...My Ken...My sweet Ken..." It whispered.
"Boss!" A frantic voice called out. The person snapped their head over to the stumbling boy. They frowned, "...Yes, Joshua." The being decided to acknowledge
Joshua quickly made his way toward the tall being. "Hah...I was looking everywhere for you! Where have you been?". "Out. Obviously. Is something urgent going on for you to call me now? I'm watching over my beloved."
"I know, I know, I'm sorry!" Joshua waved his hand. He turned his head to the disappearing figures of adonael and Ken. "...You could always kill him. He's in perfect view." The boy muttered.
"No. Then Ken would be too scared to come with me."
"You're going to take him by force anyway. Get it over with."
The person growled. They turned away from Joshua, "Where did you gain such confidence? My plans are my plans. Be good and follow them. Like you always have."
"...Yes. I was just worried you might be more preoccupied with this 'plan' of yours than your sacred duties." Joshua explained. He was less frantic now that he wasn't bumbling about looking for his boss.
"...Perhaps I have neglected my duties. Just a little bit. But he's important to me. You should know."
That struck a chord with Joshua. He couldn't bring himself to say anything more about love and loss. "...Elijah. What do you plan on doing with the poor human anyway? Not hurt him, I hope?"
Elijah looked over. "...Marry him, of course. Let's hurry and go. The heat here is unbearable."
Joshua stared in disbelief. "...Right. Let's go."
The sound of wings taking off was the only thing that caught Adonael's attention on his walk...What had that been?
