With Ken's hangover and sudden predicament in the morning, Adonael thought it was best to call in for the day. Ken insisted that Adonael go to work and leave him behind, but unfortunately, this morning put him in such a great mood he decided against it. Besides, who would tell the boss, he had to come in? It was his law firm.
Ken was rummaging through the bathroom cabinets, trying to find something to cure the splitting headache forming. He grumbled to himself, mostly to curse himself for ending up in the position they had found themselves in. Unfortunately, he hadn't wanted to bring it up that morning, but it got him thinking about their deal. When they first met.
'Your everything, your body, your soul...You have to do what I say."
But that never came. So far, any bossing around that had been done was at work where it was appropriate.
It all felt new to him again. He's had exes before, and all of them were trash, but it had been a long time since he's been with anyone. But cuddling with a man you had great emotional chemistry with wasn't the same as dating the. Yes, he made a technical oral contract with a demon...thing. But he didn't know the weight of what any of it meant. He frowned, "Adonael...I need to talk to you." He called from across the house.
Adonael popped his head out of the kitchen door frame. "Yes?" He called out. Ken made his way to the kitchen. Adonael smiled down at him, waiting for him to speak. Ken frowned slightly, "I had a dream last night." He started, "It was...bad. I know it was about Michael too." He could see Adonael's face fall a the mention of Michael's name. Ken pretended not to notice. He had a feeling that Adonael knew Michael, that much was concerning, but he didn't want to pry. He could feel it wasn't bad if that made any sense. But still, he doesn't know. "It was horrible. He was screaming at the top of his lungs. And...some voice was yelling at him. I didn't see anything in the dream. I just heard...and it was so clear."
Adonael hadn't known what to say at first. Ken did wake up with a start; it was enough even to wake up Adonael. So that's what he had been so shaken up about. "...Ken. I'm so sorry. But if you heard that voice again? Could you remember it?" He asked.
Ken looked away, staring at nothing in particular. "I think I can." He said. "Listen. If we ever find out who did this, I'll tell you I can hear the person immediately." Adonael reached his hand over and moved Ken's head so that they were looking at each other. Ken looked up at him, "Adonael, I'm sorry for last night. I didn't want to make you feel uncomfortable. I got too drunk...What was in that beer anyway! You're completely fine! You're not even hungover."
Adonael chuckled. "...You're getting distracted. You're so cute!"
Ken gave him a gentle smile. 'Talk about getting distracted." He thought.
"I need to grab some things at the convenience store. Something to cure this horrible headache. Do you want anything?" He asked as he pulled away from Adonael's touch. He wondered if he should already be used to that, but it made him feel so...weird. "No, Ken!" Adonael responded a bit quickly like that. But after a couple of minutes, while Ken got ready, Adonael's eyes widened. "Hey, wait!" He ran toward him just as he was about to leave. "No way! You're not going by yourself!" He shouted.
Ken stared at him, having already grabbed his wallet. He was only five seconds from leaving. "...Huh?"
It had been one year since Kenneth's little brother Michael died a tragic and horrifying death. Unable to function properly, Ken begins to think he may have to give up and leave Michael's murder unsolved. Until one night, as he drifts asleep, a strange handsome man in his dream offers him the deal of a lifetime.
