Sephora and Alexandria decided to accompany me on this job. We are currently on our way to the last Master on the face of the planet, Noah. I had to waste time explaining to Sephora how Alexandrian and I can fly without ships. She didn’t believe me at first but then I hovered from the ground and that shut her up.
We could have made it to our destination faster, but we have to follow Sephora to where the Master is located.
“Where are we heading anyway?” I asked, pointlessly removing the hair from my face.
“The sea dessert,” Sephora responded without looking at me.
“Noah had awakened there. Fortunately for us, it has not attacked any civilizations yet.”
“Is that normal?” I asked Alexandria, who was flying next to me.
“Masters do not automatons that are programmed with a single objective. They are living creatures capable of thinking and are aware of their existence, similar to the denizens of this planet.”
“Are you serious?!”
“Very serious. It’s just that you lesser life forms can’t perceive them as nothing more than animals. When in reality it is you who are the insects to them.”
Why doesn't she just twist the knife inside of me?
It doesn't matter to me if these monsters are sentient or not, they all die. To be honest, I am really excited that I get to kill the last one of these fuckers. Once this job is done then I can finally take out that Terrene bitch and have my revenge.
After that, I don’t really know what I’ll do. Apparently, that is some sort of cataclysmic event heading toward the planet. This event has the power to wipe out the remaining life on this planet if it isn’t stopped.
Too bad for them I guess because that has nothing to do with me. I only agreed to become an Acolyte of Chaos to get revenge on Terrene, not to become a superhero. That, and to become immortal and gain cool powers.
After I kill Terrene I am heading back to the Chaos Dimension, leaving the planet to its fate. It’s way past its expiration date anyways.
“We have almost arrived at our destination. You should prepare yourself.” Sephora said, still looking forward.
“I don’t need to prepare. I killed one of these things thousands of years ago. And I had no clue what I was doing.”
That caused her to finally look at me.
“Being braggadocious is unbecoming of a hero, Norah.”
“I’m not. I’m telling the truth, right Alexandria.”
“I honestly do not know why you would tell such an obvious lie, Norah. Not only were you not alive thousands of years ago, you never even saw a Master in your life.”
My face went red like an apple.
“You lying piece of shit! You know that’s the truth!” I yelled.
I don’t know why she’s lying? If she wasn’t the walking embodiment of fire itself, I would have decked her in the nose.
“Are you angry Norah?” I can’t tell if she’s legitimately asking or continuing to mock me.
“You don’t need to answer, I know you are. Good, use your anger to kill the Master. The faster you can accomplish this goal the faster I can get back home and eat sweets.”
It must be nice to be an all-powerful being. Having no care about the world, being able to do what you want without anybody telling you what to do. Sounds like a dream come true to me.
Sephora stopped short of our destination and landed on top of a mountain peak.
“This is how far I am willing to go. If you head six miles straight ahead, you should be able to confront Noah.” She points ahead of her.
“Alright, I think I should be done with this in about a minute or two.”
“There you go being arrogant again. Need I remind you just how much money my kingdom is paying you, Ms. Norah. I would appreciate it if you take this a tad bit seriously.”
“I am taking this seriously. I’ll just have to make a believer out of you. Wait right there.”
Faster than a flash of lightning, I was right there standing in front of Noah.
This one looks different from the last one I fought over a thousand years ago. It is a massive creature that reminds me of a whale and is ten times as big as a Blue Whale. Its front flippers look like moth antennae, have two tails, and lack any eyes.
Let’s get this show on the road.
I blitz the whale, hoping I could end this fight with a single slash of my Mana Blade. It let out a loud grunt that knocked me all the way back to the mountain range.
I crashed into a single mountain, turning it into rubble with my body. It reminded me of an old Japanese cartoon I used to watch when I was a little girl with my brother.
My whole body is in shambles and the pain is excruciating. Luckily, I don’t have to suffer too long because I am put back together again as if it has never happened.
OK, so frontal attacks don’t work on it. I guess it’s time to whip out the big guns.
I close my eyes and focus on the area around me. Gathering all of the Chaos Energy that I can muster, I began to leak it into the environment. Like spilled milk, my Chaos Energy spreads rapidly across the desert wasteland.
In a matter of seconds, the whole area is coated and now I can manipulate the sand as if it were my own limbs. I can do practically anything I want if I really wanted to, but that would take more energy than I want to spend on this fight.
First, I must transmute the gravel into iron. It could’ve been metal really, but iron is so versatile. Next, by manipulating the magnetic field, I lifted the entire desert up in the air and surrounded the Master with it.
It tried to get out by releasing that same trick it did on me earlier. But it was useless because that’s not any normal metal dust. It is dust coated in pure Chaos Energy.
Time to end this.
I closed my hands to ensnare Noah in the metal dust storm. The sound of meat grinding into bloody, gory chunks.
The once-barren desert now has a red lake sitting in its center. I return back to Alexandria and Sephora who are still at the mountain where I left them.
“I’m not the one who usually says I told you so but…”
“Silence,” Sephora said before I even finished my statement.
“You have already proved your power to me. Frankly, I have never seen anybody close to what you just did. Not even those who belong to the Dark University.”
“It wasn’t that big of a deal, really,” I said, scratching my cheek and looking away.
“I wouldn’t get too arrogant if I was you, Norah. The Masters are really not that strong in the grand scheme of things. In fact, while you were in the Chaos Dimension, several mortals on this planet killed the majority of them by themselves.”
“Hush it, Alexandria! You are not taking this victory away from me!”
With Noah dead and gone, all that is left is for me to kill Terrene.
Norah Zevenbergen is a twenty-something college graduate trying to land her dream job. Suddenly, a giant creature came out of the sky and killed every single human except Norah herself. But, she is far from safe from danger and is killed by a monster.
She then meets a mysterious man named Angelus who offers her a decision she can't refuse.
