“You did great, Hati.” Milo said cheerfully as they walked back towards Hati’s dormitory hall.
Hati looked up at him cheerfully. “Really?” he beamed. “Thanks! I had fun!”
Milo chuckled a little. “I’m glad.
“Thanks for walking me to my dorm, too. I was a little worried about it since Atlas has a test…” Hati said, averting his eyes sheepishly.
Milo gave him a curious expression, but after a moment just continued the conversation like normal instead of trying to ask Hati what that meant and possibly losing his trust. “Well, I’m always around if you need any help. Feel free to ask me at any time.”
“Thanks.” Hati said, then awkwardly tacked on, “Again.”
Milo just smiled a bit, enjoying the little human (for lack of a better word)quality in that response. Milo’s smile turned nervous though when he decided to ask, “Um… Hati?”
“Hm?”
“Um, I'd like to learn more about werewolves and stuff like life on the Archipelago. If you're comfortable with it... would you... teach me?” Milo asked, a little nervous he might be coming off as weird.
Hati beamed at him without a single moment of hesitation. “Sure! Just give me a time you’re free and name the place and I’ll tell you whatever you want to learn!”
Milo smiled back, relieved it’d been taken the way he’d intended and received well. “Alright; I’ll let you know.” He answered cheerfully, coming up on the entrance to Hati’s dormitory hall.
Hati opened the large door to the hall, looking back at Milo cheerfully. “Okay.” he said happily. “Have a good day.”
“You too!” Milo said cheerfully, waving to his new friend before he disappeared behind the heavy wooden door that clicked closed behind him. Milo let out a little contented sigh, closing his eyes as he reveled in this feeling. It’d been a while since he’d walked anyone to their dorm that wasn’t Sirena, to the point it felt odd now that he’d walked Hati to his dorm hall. Not because he’d walked Hati, no. The strange part was the feeling that lingered. Usually, Milo felt uncomfortable when he was around Sirena. If she hadn’t threatened him, then Milo wouldn’t have even been friends with her. Of course that wasn’t his circumstances and he still tried his best to be a good boyfriend to her even if he didn’t like her and didn’t like women romantically, but still, interacting with Sirena left a feeling of discomfort and a feeling of relief when she’d left. He felt rude to admit it, even just to himself. That wasn’t what he’d felt walking Hati to his dorm. Instead he’d felt… happy. Comfortable. Good. Even if he did feel nervous, it was a good kind of nervous, and it was fleeting anyway. It was good. This was good.
Milo smiled to himself. “Today was a good day.”
