She tried to scream out — to call for help— but her efforts were only met with icy water.
She couldn’t breathe. She could no longer move. The best she had managed to do was reach out a hand to the fleeting light above. There was nothing she could do as she watched the retreating rays grow smaller, and smaller— until it flickered out like a cheap candle.
The world was now dark… and empty… and…and…
She sank, deeper and deeper into the murky deep. All feeling in her body had long since receded. All that was left was the growing fear rising deep from inside her.

No one was going to find her in time. No one knew where she was. And she doubted anyone would even miss her if she were to…to...

But she had no voice. She wasn’t even sure she'd ever had one. Not that any of that mattered anymore…
Her tears mixed with water as she let her eyes close, allowing the growing darkness to swallow her whole.
