Testosterone in the air

Testosterone in the air

Jan 14, 2023

Elizabeth felt her heart palpitate once again after arriving at Hara. This…. Such a thing as coincidence should be rare right?

Why did this man suddenly show up here? Elizabeth was not particularly brilliant at memorizing faces nor figures but there was a certain thing towards this person that made her remember.

This man…. This man had somehow been the man she had teased at the border of Hara.

"Handsome man!"

She had remembered yelling at him thinking there was a non-existent chance she would meet him.

She had not seen his face, but she could not be more assured this was him.

He bore a limpid expression on his chiseled face. It was the kind and gentle look a preacher would give, it did not match his warrior-like build or his domineering aura.

Unlike Oliviér who had chiseled muscles, appropriate, slim, yet toned, the new character had a large and brick-like frame. He was wearing a golden armor which Elizabeth reckoned was very heavy and thick, yet his muscles managed to bulge through.

Elizabeth, who had just said Oliviér was the most intimidating Werewolf that she had met, swallowed. He did not have a pair of enchanting eyes like Oliviér, but his dark-red eyes were terrifyingly mesmerizing, having thin dark veins on the fair skin underneath his dark-red orbs. The thin veins were pumping with dark blood, and connected with his eyes.

These types of Werewolves with veins underneath their eyes were immensely fearsome. They had very little control over their beast, they were more powerful than other Werewolves their ranking and their anger was one word…. Legendary.

They were called War Wolves.

If a human ever encountered such a Werewolf without proper precautions and security around….. run.

His blonde short hair fell on his thick blonde eyebrows, and his fair eyebrows swept up and down at Oliviér. The limpid expression slowly twisted into a stone-cold one. Elizabeth observed as the veins on the side of his neck popped when his jaw ticked, teeth obviously grinding behind his thin pale pink lips.

His clenched jaw was squared, with a nice love line in the middle of his jaw. A cleft chin, something one did not see everyday. There was a very noticeable ink at the side of his face, a black drawing of two serpents fighting for dominance, identical to the necklace on his neck.

He was a head taller than Oliviér that had already dwarfed Elizabeth, so standing beside this Alpha male she seemed like nothing more than a speck of dust…. Although for her it was hard not to notice him with the scent of fresh sunflowers that filled the air the moment he walked here.

Sunflower? Elizabeth trailed her eyes from his summer blonde hair to his blonde eyebrows, and golden armor. It fitted perfectly.

Different from Elizabeth who was secretly examining his features, Oliviér was irritated. "The renowned Divine Paladin has finally returned back to Overwatch? I mourned when news of your death reached the country, my surprise to discover it was after all false news."

Elizabeth unconsciously nodded. It was confirmed, Oliviér was not just intentionally a dick to her but it was simply his attitude to everyone.

Lines began to form in the middle between his thick blonde eyebrows. "I believe Young Master Oliviér must have shed too many tears…. I feel honored knowing the Young Master would not shed a tear even if his own Wolf died."

Whatever it meant it seemed to have hit a spot in Oliviér. The man pushed his glasses up with a finger. "What are you doing in my crime scene, Paladin," his words were clipped.

The "Paladin" cleared his throat before he spoke. "I have received orders from His Majesty to join the Bleach murder case."

For the first time Elizabeth heard Oliviér growl. It was low, it was raspy, it was as gravel as his voice, and it sent terrible tremors down her spine. She was not sure why her stomach suddenly felt hot though…. Fear?

"A rabid guard dog? No thanks, you can walk away now." Oliviér's voice had turned lower and deeper by a second.

Elizabeth stepped back instinctively.

The "Paladin" did not move. "You can not dispute the authority of the crown. Drop your arrogance and ...."

Elizabeth's heart jumped, and she out of instinct moved an inch. What she was looking at was her new superior holding a pistol pointed at the forehead of the "Paladin".

Oliviér's other hand was placed behind his back while the other was holding a black pistol pointed at the forehead of the "Paladin".

"Back in primary school," Oliviér's voice had turned lower again. "My teacher said if you wanted to put a rabid dog down you had to aim for the head."

Elizabeth was baffled by the random twist. How….? What kind of hostility did they have against each other? Elizabeth knew absolutely nothing about both men, but anyone with eyes and ears would have already perceived that Oliviér was a crude man.

Insulting and degrading those he hated was not above him at all, but Elizabeth had not foreseen him pointing a gun at another Werewolf in daylight, with so many people around.

The man whom Oliviér had snatched the gun from his pouch was even more baffled. He did not even understand how Oliviér had so sharply snatched his gun and he was a beta wolf.

Those who stood and watched the two men swallowed. Every Investigator and Detective was issued a gun with silver bullets, to take down enemies that were Werewolves like them.

If Oliviér shot the gun he would truly kill this "Paladin". And for what? What kind of hostility was this?

The "Paladin" whom everyone was scared for did not show the slightest bit of fear. His lips curled up into a malicious sneer, whilst his dark-red eyes began to glow as well as the veins below his eyes pumped faster.

He sneered. "You've gone mad from privilege. Are you really planning to shoot the head of the Army of Mother Earth in public?"

Anyone with common sense agreed with this. Many of the people around knew already of the hatred between the two but shooting a beloved Paladin in public was a death sentence.

Oliviér's golden-red eyes rolled at the question. "I would shoot you and bury your body with Rogues."

The words seemed to have triggered the "Paladin" who took a step towards the pistol, pressing his forehead against the cold metal. Elizabeth's eyes descended on the "Paladin's" hands. From his leather gloves claws were beginning to peek from it.

"As expected of a Fóix, madness is in your blood, I had hoped it would skip a generation but it intensified with you."

Oliviér's red lips shifted to the corner, tilting into another "sweet" smile Elizabeth had seen before. "Mad men do dangerous things, mad men damn consequences…. Mad men have killed Paladins before…."

The Paladin looked pressed by the last sentence but said. "Do not drag this joke on, Oliviér, you will not pull the trigg–"

Pow! Pow!

Smoke emitted from the hole of the pistol.

"A Commoner is worth more than a grain of sand, a Half breed is even worse, and you are both, the worst of two worlds, truly you are pitiful….but your fidelity happens to be worth more than both noble and commoner combined. Is that not an interesting fact?"— Oliviér Lé Fóix.

"I agree that aside from evangelism there is a sinful agenda but how can you judge my faith when you tempt me by standing in my house with your bare breasts in my sight?"— Sebastién Wright.
