As Katelynn escorted them out she remarked, "I really do admire how well you two work together. If half the couples I've seen work, as well as you two, do I'd be out of the job!" She joked lightly just as Harriet and Thomas left.
On their way out they passed by some vague celebrity couple that Thomas recognized but couldn't quite name. Sitting in the car after leaving the building, Thomas and Harriet heaved heavy sighs. "it felt like she was bullying me." Thomas complained, "Apparently it's my turn next." Harriet responded. Thomas looked over seeing the exhausted look on Harriet's face.
"Should we even do this right now? We're so busy Harry." Thomas remarked, "Thomas," Harriet sighed, "If we don't we'll regret it." She spoke leaning back into the seat, "Don't you mean I'll regret it?" Thomas questioned, Harriet's tired eyes looked over at him. "Don't think because I'm scared to lose you means that I don't want to raise a child with you." She said softly.
"I've seen the way you hold Emery... It makes me want to see you with our kid." Harriet looked out of the front window. "I want to see you happy with a child. I want a little kid to come running up to us calling us Mom and Dad..." Harriet spoke softly, "Working with the toy company and the kids who come in for research... I can't help but wonder what our children would be like." She confessed.
Thomas reached over and placed a kiss on Harriet's cheek, "I'm so sorry I've been treating you like we're on opposite teams..." He said softly, "But we're not." Harriet looked over at him, "But Harriet this... You're treating this like you're sick. Do you really think us going to these appointments is suddenly going to fix how you feel just to make me happy?" Thomas asked exasperated.
Harriet winced, "I hoped." She confessed sheepishly, "Oh Harry." Thomas said softly, "We're messed up aren't we?" He chuckled leaning back, Harriet shifted in her seat and climbed over into Thomas's lap. "Yeah," Harriet replied sitting sideways. Thomas hugged her for a moment and thought she'd move back but she stayed put. "Harriet I can't drive like this." Thomas sighed, "Five more minutes." Harriet replied leaning her head against his chest.
Thomas stared and sighed, "Fine, five more minutes." He chuckled, burying his face in Harriet's hair. Soft happy growling filled the car, nothing made Thomas happier than when Harriet liked to cuddle with him.
Harriet once again got away with twenty minutes before they left. Even then Harriet dozed off holding Thomas's hand across the center console. When they got home Thomas got out of the car and helped Harriet out. "Harry do you want me to carry you?" Thomas asked, Harriet, scrunched her face and shook her head yawning.
"It's fine." She replied, Thomas locked the car and the two of them held hands as they headed to the elevators. When they got up to the penthouse, Thomas scooped Harriet into his arms and carried her to the bedroom after locking the door. "But dinner..." Harriet tried to argue, "Dinner can come later." Thomas replied hugging Harriet tight in his arms. Harriet leaned over his shoulder with her legs around his hips. "I feel more like a teddy bear than your mate right now." She remarked sounding amused.
Thomas kicked his shoes off and flopped backward onto the bed with Harriet still in his arms. Harriet sat on top of him and stared down at him. Thomas thought she was going to say something but instead Harriet just took a deep breath and flopped down on top of Thomas. "I'm tired." She announced. Thomas chuckled and grabbed the blanket pulling it over top of them. He pulled it a bit too far and they were under the blanket together.
He paused and grinned, he turned over tucking the blanket under his sides, and felt satisfied when the blanket was wrapped around them. Harriet shifted and placed her head under his chin and Thomas sighed feeling pleased, he curled up with Harriet in his arms and fell asleep.
Things were busy once again, which was expected, though Thomas and Harriet did remember to fulfill the homework before the next appointment. Though that was tomorrow a bit late, at least the experience would be fresh in their minds. Thomas and Harriet stared at the building with grimaces.
"Do we have to?" Harriet looked over at Thomas, Thomas sighed, "The next one is two towns over." Thomas replied. There they were again at the same store once more. "We'll just get a couple of bolts and leave," Thomas announced walking inside first. Harriet followed after him and while Thomas had felt confident, it was only when Harriet held his hand that he realized.
He was shaking.
"Breathe." Harriet interlocked their fingers, "I am." Thomas replied stiffly, "You know, that recent haircut of yours looks very good on you." Harriet remarked casually, "Harriet." Thomas rolled his eyes with a smile on his lips. "Handsome man." Harriet sang softly to herself, Thomas couldn't help but grin.
"I like that you're wearing glasses more often." Thomas complimented, "It suits you." he remarked, "Thanks I like seeing." Harriet replied teasingly as they walked through the aisles. "I'm trying to flirt," Thomas spoke exasperated, Harriet swung their arms together. "Then tell me how sexy my glasses make me look." Harriet remarked, Thomas laughed, "You look cute. Like a little professor." he leaned down to her level.
Harriet clicked her tongue, "Cute? I think I liked it better when you thought I was frigid and sexy." Harriet replied, "Oh that is very sexy." Thomas was nose to nose with her now. They kissed and Thomas sucked in a breath waiting for someone to say anything. But no one said anything.
When they parted he released his breath and looked around, people were minding their own business. No one cared that he was in there. Everyone was too busy dealing with their own problems for them to care about him.
Feeling a bit more confident, Thomas and Harriet ended up buying plenty of supplies and a book to assist them. The evening was spent putting together a nest, in true fashion for them. They ended up making a science out of it. But they enjoyed their time together and it was truly a good bonding experience for them. That night they fell asleep in the nest they created together. Thomas's growling purrs filled the room as he held Harriet close while falling asleep.
It was about three am when Thomas woke up next. His breathing was labored and his body was covered with sweat. It was early but Thomas realized quickly he got his heat, had this just been a few months ago. Thomas would've panicked. But instead, he shifted in his sleep looking for his suppressants in the dark. Harriet clung to him in her sleep and Thomas held her not wanting her to slide off of him so easily.
Without thinking his face briefly buried itself in Harriet's neck and his wandering hand froze as he smelled Harriet's scent. He shuttered feeling himself ache as he smelt her. A hot burning in his inner thighs gathered quickly. He rubbed his legs together unable to help himself, it seemed this one was a little worse than usual.
He licked his lips trying to get his wits about him and began reaching for the pill bottle in the dark again. However just as he did he felt a hand on his groin. A soft caress was all it took for Thomas to become limp. "Harriet..." he whined knowing that touch even in the dark.
Harriet shifted and eyed him in the dark, the dull light of the moon came in through the large windows of the penthouse. Thomas was suddenly struck by Harriet's scent filling the room. He gasped out breathing deeply, his vision filled with a dream-like haze.
Harriet and Thomas had ruts and heats around each other before but this... This was the first time they had synced with each other. Thomas reached up cupping Harriet's face, he felt sweat trickle on his skin. He wasn't scared, far from it...
He didn't speak only breathing loudly, Harriet and he silently kissed. From there, time seemed to blend together, he could not tell where he stopped and Harriet began. The sun rose high in the sky and it was only then, did he have a break. He passed out from exhaustion and woke up to Harriet with food. "Eat," Harriet spoke staring at him, her eyes were different as she stared at him. Pinned little dots were her pupils and her vision tracked even the slightest movements from Thomas. Thomas ate the sandwiches she gave him and drank the water she provided.
"Did you eat?" He asked, "yes." Harriet stared at him reaching over and wiping his face. Thomas leaned into her touch closing his eyes. "Do you need more food?" She asked moving close to him after sitting the plate to the side. "I'm fine," he replied Harriet pushed him down on the bed.
Thomas leaned up kissing her, but before long he was once again pinned down by Harriet. Time seemed to blend together and Thomas only rested to do the bare minimum. It was three days after that before Harriet and Thomas woke up as if out of a dream.
Coming out of the heat or a rut depending on the couple can be quick where all it would take is one go and they were done. But there were times when it took days, Harriet and Thomas appeared to be the couple that took days. Once on the other side, it can feel very much like waking up after a night of binge drinking. You can vaguely remember what happened but there were a lot of blind spots.
It had been sudden and unplanned, there were a lot of people worried about what was going on. Thomas and Harriet had to spend most of the day catching up on the lost time. At the office, Thomas had Harriet in his lap again as they read through files. To be honest he wasn't paying attention and was just happy Harriet was in his arms.
He let Harriet do the focusing today as he buried his face into her neck relaxing. Maybe it was still some after-effects of his heat, but Harriet smelt really good today. Beyond what was normal for her. Without thinking, Thomas shifted his face under the collar of her shirt and bit her neck. It wasn't a hard bite but it was enough to make Harriet pause what she was doing.
"Thomas?" Harriet asked, "You smell so good." Thomas mumbled releasing her neck before biting again. His hand trailed down to her lap. Today Harriet was wearing a skirt instead of pants. She usually did this after a rut because she found pants to be too difficult to deal with.
"Thomas we can go home if you still need my help," Harriet said softly, Thomas slowly released her neck again and rubbed his face against the side of hers. "I don't want you in me. I just want..." he sighed, "I just want to touch you." he whispered, his hand sliding up Harriet's inner thigh. Harriet let out a low sigh as he slid the skirt up her hips. She reached over and grabbed the remote to lock the doors to the office.
A preventive measure was needed for just this. Thomas thought she was crazy for doing that but, now he was happy she insisted upon it. Thomas grasped her, Thomas purred into Harriet's ear as he heard her stuck air sharply through her teeth. He buried his face into the side of Harriet's neck where her scent gland was. He couldn't get enough of her today, all the anxiousness he felt seemed to always fade away whenever he smelled Harriet. He felt Harriet's manicured nails dig into his knees
"Thomas..." he heard Harriet's voice groan, she was still sensitive, Thomas sucked air in through his nose sharply and groaned. Her voice sounded so good to him, he just wanted... His mouth itched so badly. A thought passed by in his mind, a gentle inner voice reminding him of all the times Harriet had bit him. She was so cute... So lovely... He just wanted to bite her... Just once...
The voice whispered softly to him in his head and within a moment just as Harriet tightened up, Thomas bit down harshly on her neck, it was a lot more force than what he wanted. But once he started to do it, he couldn't stop. The itching slowly ceased and he felt a deep satisfaction wash over him as his teeth sank into the gland. Thomas closed his eyes and purred loudly feeling satisfied. He heard Harriet take shaky deep breaths and it was a good few minutes before Thomas released her, after he lapped at the wound he created. It was only after everything was over he realized what he did.
Harriet leaned against him breathing heavily, he stared at her neck. He froze unsure what to do, he had just marked Harriet! "Harry I'm so-." he went to apologize and he froze seeing Harriet sitting there grinning like an idiot. "Harriet?" he asked, Harriet's eyes filled with tears.
"You finally did it." She said looking pleased, a stupidly large grin grew on her face. "Harry?" Thomas asked confused, "All this time I... I wanted you to but... You never did." Harriet wiped her eyes with her hands, "Sorry it's the rut making me a little emotional." She excused herself.
"Harriet I... I'm sorry... I had no idea." Thomas stuttered, he hugged her tightly in his arms, "I was always afraid I'd hurt you. I am bigger after all." He confessed feeling a little embarrassed, Harriet side-eyed him and took a breath. "You're not that big." She grumbled, "I could take you." She added. Thomas gawked, "Harry by taking me what do you mean?" He asked almost scared of the answer.
"Harry..." Thomas spoke worriedly when she didn't answer, "Harry!" he exclaimed.
