The morning's sun was the first thing Taylor noticed when her eyes first opened, the second thing was her mothers' camera going off. "Mom, I told you to turn down the volume. You're going to wake them." Taylor heard her older brother say as he shushed his mother.
"No, it won't. Your sister could sleep through a tornado."
"Mom!" Taylor hollers as she shoots up into a sitting position, a rumble from the lump beside her catches her attention and so does the arm that tightens around her waist. Taylor gasped as the night's events flashed through her head, she and Jasmine had spent the night together and now her mother and her brother were getting photographic proof. Great. "Mom, delete that!"
"Don't talk to me like that little girl. Your lucky I don't ground you for sneaking in a girl," Mrs. Anderson smiles pointing at the lump that is now sitting up, the blankets falling off of the body under the pile of blankets.
"What's wrong?" Jasmine mumbles as she rubs her eyes looking at Taylor first before staring at the other Anderson's in the room still not quite awake.
"Nothing, go back to sleep." Taylor soothes and without thinking, she takes a reassuring hand and rubs Jasmine's cheek. The other girl doesn't even blink as the other occupants of the room freeze she just leans into the touch. "Sorry," Taylor manages to mumble slowly retracting her hand and earning a sad look from the other girl.
"Don't be. I liked it," Jasmine smiles. The flash from the camera the older woman was holding woke the two young girls from the impromptu staring contest they seemed to be locked in.
"Oh my god, I have to go show your father this. Paul!" Mrs. Anderson screamed running out of the room leaving Tyler behind to drown in the silence that fell upon the room in her absence.
"Are you two dating? Ow-"
"Get out," Taylor hollers as she hurdles a throw pillow at her brother's head. Turning back to the brunette Taylor smiles awkwardly earning a slight chuckle before the brunette sits up, "I'm gonna go get breakfast, you comin'?"
"I'll be right there," was all Taylor could muster out as Jasmine crawled out of bed revealing her pj's from last night, a t-shirt that hugged her muscles perfectly, and a pair of shorts that sat high on her thigh. Jasmine nodded with a smile as she rounded the bed before leaning in and leaving a gentle kiss on Taylor's forehead. Leaving the room with a bit of pep in her step.
The girl every boy wanted and every girl wanted to be only wanted the one person in the entire school who didn't want her or to be her, the quiet kid who just wants to be left alone so the day can go by without there being a total disaster like catching the attention of the whole student body because the head cheerleader likes her.
