“He said that!” Riley said, getting mad.
“I can’t believe it!” Gracie said, getting as mad as Riley.
I just told them what happened between Adrien and me and so far they don’t seem very happy about it.
“He’s a jerk,” Riley said. “An idiot.”
“A bad word,” Gracie said.
“Which one?” Riley said.
“I don’t know. How many are there?” Gracie asked.
“Jackass. Bitch,” Riley began.
“That’s enough,” Gracie said, covering her ears. “How about he’s all of them combined?”
“Sounds good to me,” Riley agreed.
“Guys,” I stared.
Riley and Gracie then shot glares at me.
“Don't you ‘guys’ us. You are not going to defend him this time. What he did was stupid? He’s handled his feelings very immaturely,” Riley said, angrily.
“I guess so,” I said, staring at the floor of the school lunchroom.
“You guess so?! It is too so!” Riley said, getting worked up. “I might as well go over to their lunch table and beat him up for handling y’alls situation like that.”
“Riley,” Gracie said, putting her hand on Riley’s shoulder, trying to calm her down.
“Please, don’t Riley me, I’m not in the mood for that today,” Riley said, annoyed.
Rowan then walked up to our table and sat down next to Riley.
“Hey guys,” Rowan said. “What’s going on?”
Riley then shot me a “can I tell him?” look.
I nodded.
“Your brother basically broke up with Dahlia even though they weren’t ever together. He doesn’t even want to be friends with Dahlia,” Riley explained.
“Why not?” Rowan asked, looking confused.
“I think he’s scared,” Riley said.
Rowan seemed to understand because he no longer looked confused.
“Just give him some time. He’ll eventually realize what he did and come back to you,” Rowan said.
“She understands. She told him that I understood his situation and knew where he was coming from, but he still pushed her away,” Riley said.
“Sorry that’s all I have to say. I do know that he really likes you Dahlia. He always talks about you and I know everytime someone mentions your name, he smiles,” Rowan said.
“Aw,” Gracie gushed.
“That is pretty sweet,” Riley said.
“It is,” I said. “Thanks, Rowan. I needed to hear that.”
“You’re welcome,” Rowan said with a smile. “On another note, Riley, are you ready for our date tonight?”
Riley blushed.
“Ooo~! Isn’t tonight y’alls third date?” Gracie gushed.
“Yes,” Riley answered. “It is our third date.”
“What were y’alls first two dates?” I asked.
“Breakfast smoothies and the school carnival,” Rowan said with a huge smile.
“Now, I want a smoothie,” Gracie said, looking slightly sad.
Everyone then laughed.
“Alright, for today's class I will be assigning you to your partners for that project we talked about yesterday,” My history teacher, Ms. May said.
Ms. May walked over to her desk and picked up her clipboard.
“I made a list of your names and your partners. Remember, no complaining,” Ms. May said, holding the clipboard in both her hands.
I listened as Ms. May began reading off the names of different students and their partners. She then called my name.
“Dahlia Yates and…Adrien Carter,” Ms. May said.
