Trix opened an old drawer where she kept all sorts of bombs she had made.
'Trix' - Eh... The last two - she picked up two spherical objects - I shouldn't have relied on them so much. Overnight I'll try to make a few new ones, what colors to choose for smoke... blue... pink... or maybe some new?
She put the bombs back in the cupboard and walked over to the desk where many small metal objects lay; wires, cables, connectors and elixirs.
She sat down in a slightly worn but comfortable chair and began to work.
"Tum, tum"
She heard the noise of people walking. She quickly recognized that they were two people walking down the corridor on the floor where her apartment was located.
'Trix' - Isn't it Fi and Feli? - Curious, she got up from the desk.
She walked over to the front door and swung it open.
'Trix' - You are here!
She saw her friends behind the door.
'Trix' - What took you so long? - She crossed her arms as she waited for an answer.
'Fi' - Em.... because.... - He had no idea for an excuse.
In their minds, the siblings remembered Viral's words of farewell [Not a word about us, our organization, and our intentions! Tell even one person and I'll make sure you don't recognize your own face!] The woman said it in a tone so terrible that siblings will remember her words for the rest of their lives.
Therefore, they wanted to hide from the Trix where they were and what they had learned.
'Feli' - We got hungry and went to eat something.
When she lied, she made a habit of never looking anyone in the eye; she was always looking at the floor, which is why Trix recognized very easily that it was just a hoax, but she continued anyway.
'Trix' - So you're saying you went out to eat and ate until - She looked back to see a device on the windowsill that served as a clock* - 11 pm? So long?
*This device, although it served as a clock, looked completely different. The device was shaped like a standing bottle. There were lines carved on the bottle to indicate the time of day. Inside the bottle there was a liquid that, depending on the hour, increased and decreased in volume, matching the designated lines and determining the time of day. The potion inside is called the time of day potion, it is one of the most common and cheapest potions.
'Feli' - Well, because... first we were looking for something good for a long time, and then... - She continued to look at the ground, lying.
'Fi' 'And then we just walked around town - He finished after his sister.
'Trix' - Oh.. right? - She didn't believe them one bit - If you don't want to say it, I won't insist, but we'll go to Makio's tomorrow, you don't even know how worried she was that you weren't coming back for so long.
'Feli' - Sure.
'Fi' - No problem - They answered without any reservations - By the way, did you know that mum died? - He changed the subject.
'Trix' - Mom? You mean Aunt Luna? - Fi and Feli nodded - Of course I knew, Garef told us all.
'Fi' - She said she left, not died - he corrected her.
'Trix' - And all this time you thought that she went on a journey? - The siblings nodded their heads - Pff, hahaha! ha ha! ha ha! - She laughed so much that she began to cringe from the pain in her stomach, and tears began to fall from her eyes - I can't! You are such idiots! Hahaha!
'Feli' - Hey, that's not funny! We cried over it recently! - She was outraged by her behavior.
'Trix' - No, it's fucking funny!!! ha ha! Ah... - She managed to suppress the urge to laugh - At least now I know why you didn't cry when Garef told us about her death, I thought you were either too young to understand or insensitive.
'Fi' - Yeah... that explains why you cried so much back then... - He agreed with Trix.
The one-eyed girl was breathing heavily after laughing so hard.
'Trix' - You thought she went on a trip, pfff hahahahahahahah!!! - But she couldn't help herself - Hahahahaha!!! Hahahaha idiots!!
'Feli' - Maybe we'll ignore her and go to the room - She asked slightly embarrassed and ashamed.
'Fi' - I thought the same thing.
Agreeing with each other, they left, leaving Trix bursting with laughter alone, and entered their apartment.
'Fi' - And it spoiled my mood even more than Viral.
'Feli' - No, Viral was worse, how could she tell us that we have to wait one day and think about it anyway!? After all, we're sure we want to join!
She referred to what happened after the two shouted their desire to participate in the operation. Viral, despite their involvement, rejected their consent and ordered that they have one day to think about the proposal. And because of this, the next day they will only think about what fun adventures they could have if they just started this amazing job right away.
'Fi' - No, Trix is worse though, and one day of waiting is... nothing at all. - He disagreed with his sister.
'Feli' - No, Viral worse.
'Fi' - No, Trix.
'Feli' - Viral.
'Fi' - Trix.
'Feli' - Viral.
'Fi' - Trix.
'Feli' - Viral.
'Fi' - Okay! Let's compromise! They're just as bad.
'Feli' - .... I can agree, they are just as bad - She shook his hand in agreement, and they shook hands vigorously.
After a short argument, the boy approached one of the cabinets in the room. The one Feli had knocked down the day before when they were playing with the water guns. After a huge bang caused by the collapse of the cupboard, Garef came to their apartment and yelled at them, she also took one of the objects lying on the ground in her hand. Exactly for the same object Fi just held out his hand. It was a frame with a picture showing their family. In the picture was little Feli, little Fi and their mother. A pretty woman with jet-black, not too long hair, black wings and two large horns growing from her skull. She had a slightly round face like her children, and just like her children she looked a little silly.
'Feli' - It's a pity that I broke the frame - she looked at the object held by her brother.
It shattered when the entire cabinet was knocked to the ground.
'Fi' - Nothing happened, the picture is whole - He pushed the broken glass away from the picture - It's a pity that this is the last picture we have with our mum.
'Feli' - Uhm - She agreed with her brother, slightly sad - But at least one left!
She wanted to look optimistic, so she smiled and put her arm around her brother.
*****
They both thought about the memories they had left of her. About the times they spent together.
'Luna' - Come on, go to sleep.
'Fi' - Eeeeeee, but I don't want to yet!
'Feli' - I don't wand to!
Their mother was a very pretty young woman. She always had a nice, warm smile on her face. She seemed to love her 5 and 4 year old children.
'Luna' - There's no "I don't want to" - she barred them with her finger - It's late so go to bed and if you do it within 5 seconds I'll read you something.
'Fi' - No! - He still disagreed.
'Feli' - Eh? But... - The younger sister clearly wanted to hear the story from the book, however, she did not want to argue with her brother.
'Luna' - Five - She began the countdown.
'Feli' - Filyy, maybe let's go... - she wanted to convince her brother.
'Fi' - No!
'Luna' - Four, three...
'Feli' - But I wand to... uhm, uhm... - Her voice took on a desperate note, slowly turning into a cry.
Tired after a long day, she couldn't control her emotions and started to cry.
'Feli' - Włah!!! Wha!! Wa...!
'Luna' - Oh no! Have I done something wrong again!? - She panicked for a moment, but recovered quickly and crouched down beside her daughter to comfort her. - Come on, come on. Do not Cry. We'll go to bed in a moment and I'll read you a book. She had a nice voice.
She hugged her, lifted her, and carried her to the couch. They were a poor family. Their apartment had only two rooms; a bathroom and a living room with a kitchenette. The three of them slept on the same couch, even now Fi and Feli share the same old couch.
Luna laid Feli on the sofa, propped her up against the pillow and covered her with the duvet.
'Luna' - You see, we're about to read something.
'Feli' - Eh, eh.... She wiped her eyes wet with tears and slowly fell silent.
Beside her, little Fi slipped under the covers. Not wanting his sister to cry any more, he gave in and decided to go to sleep too.
The woman, looking for books, saw Fi hugging her little sister out of the corner of her eye and smiled at the sweet sight.
'Luna' - So what are we reading today? "Dog Saves the World", "Little Sorceress", "Robo-Hero" - She stopped because the children started chanting,
'Fi, Feli' - Robo-hero, Robo-hero, Robo-hero!
'Luna' - Again? We read it yesterday and the day before.
'Fi' - Because it's the best!
'Feli' - The pest! - She repeated after her brother.
'Luna' - Okay, if that's what you want.
She climbed into the bed between Fi and Feli so that each of them could see the pictures in the comic. After making sure they could see everything, she started reading the dialogues in the speech bubbles while pointing to the characters who were saying the dialogues.
Soon after, the siblings fell asleep. Luna kissed both foreheads and left the couch to turn off the light.
'Luna' - And hop, and to work.
Putting on her shoes, she left the apartment and headed for the club where she worked.
