A/N:
Was on January 23rd but 167 years ago (1856), when ‘Le Corsaire’ ballet was presented for the first time in Paris, performed by the Théâtre Impérial de l’Opéra’s ballet. Do you know something about this ballet? Loosely based on the poem of the same name, ‘The Corsair’ by Lord Byron, it tells the story of the pirate captain Conrad and his faithful crew on the mission to rescue Medora, Conrad’s love, from the hands of the slave trader Lankendem, going through sumptuous palaces, busy markets and moonlit caves. Sounds good? The modern productions we can see nowadays are derived from Master Marius Petipa’s revival for the Imperial Ballet of St. Petersburg; the same where our boys Lu Han and Randy are settled this time and performs Conrad –as premier danseur– and Ali, one of his men, respectively… although at this point their relationship isn’t that good, with a newcomer Randy from Moscow that threatens the position Lu Han has fought so hard for.
