The years passed, Zaruya and Naelina were becoming 16 years of age. At that age, an elf becomes an adult, and each elves' tribe has some kind of ceremony of coming of age for their young ones.
The sun beat down on the desert as the Fang tribe gathered around the arena, a large pit dug out of the sand. The tribe had come to witness the coming of age ceremony of Zaruya.
Zaruya stood at the edge of the pit, her heart pounding with excitement and fear. This was the moment she had been waiting for - the moment she would prove herself as a warrior of the Fang tribe.
The tribe's elders began the ceremony, calling upon the spirits of the desert to bless and guide the young warrior. As they did, the crowd of onlookers let out a cheer, signaling the start of the ceremony.
Zaruya descended into the pit, her eyes scanning the arena for her opponent. Suddenly, a giant desert lizard emerged from the shadows, its scales glistening in the sunlight. The lizard let out a deafening roar, launching itself at Zaruya. She was ready, her instincts and training kicking in. She dodged the lizard's attacks, her movements swift and precise. The battle between Zaruya and the giant desert lizard was intense and fierce. Zaruya, being a skilled hunter, was able to evade the lizard's initial charge with quick footwork and nimble dodges. She used her knife as a defensive tool, blocking the lizard's sharp claws and teeth, while looking for an opening to strike. The lizard was relentless, using its tail to whip and swipe at Zaruya, but she was able to anticipate its moves, avoiding most of the hits. The lizard's scales provided a tough armor, making it difficult for Zaruya to land a decisive blow. The lizard's size and strength were also a formidable challenge for Zaruya, but she used her agility and speed to her advantage, darting in and out, looking for an opportunity to strike. The lizard's breath was also deadly, it could release a noxious gas that could incapacitate Zaruya, but she was able to avoid inhaling it by holding her breath and moving quickly. The battle was grueling, and both Zaruya and the lizard were showing signs of exhaustion. It was in that moment that Zaruya saw her chance, using her knife, she delivered a swift and powerful strike to the lizard's weak spot, which was a small circle under its chin, causing it to fall to the ground, defeated. The crowd erupted into cheers as Zaruya was hoisted out of the pit, her arms raised in triumph. The tribe's elders bestowed upon her the title of warrior and granted her the honor of leaving the tribe to gain life experience and power, only to return as a powerful asset to the tribe.
As she was given her blessing by the elders, Zaruya felt a sense of pride and accomplishment wash over her. She had proven herself as a warrior of the Fang tribe, and she was ready to set out into the world and make a name for herself.
As the sun set on the desert, the members of the Demonic Alliance gathered around a large stone circle etched with intricate symbols and sigils. The circle was located at the heart of their settlement, and it was here that the tribe's young demon-elves came of age and summoned their first demonic familiars.
Naelina, now sixteen, stood at the edge of the circle, her heart pounding with excitement and fear. This was the moment everyone in the tribe had been waiting for - the moment the princess would summon her own demonic familiar. They were curious to see what kind of monstrous creature might be called by the talented princess of their Demonic Alliance.
The tribe's sorcerers began to chant ancient incantations, their voices rising and falling in a hypnotic rhythm. As they did, the symbols etched into the stone circle began to glow with an otherworldly light.
Naelina stepped forward, her eyes fixed on the swirling vortex of energy that formed at the center of the circle. She raised her hands, her fingers twisted into the symbols that would call forth her familiar.
With a cute meow, a black-furred cat emerged from the vortex, its eyes glowing with a shiny green. The cat was Naelina's familiar, a demonic creature bound to her will. As Naelina and the cat locked eyes, a bond was formed, an unbreakable connection between demon-elf and familiar.
The grand elder of the Demonic Alliance, who was present at the binding ceremony, stepped forward to examine the cat closely. He had never seen a familiar like this before. It was small and unassuming, but its eyes held a power that he could not ignore. As he examined the cat, he noticed that it was not just any ordinary demonic beast. It was imbued with powerful magic, and its eyes glowed with a mysterious energy that even he could not decipher. The grand elder was intrigued and impressed by Naelina's familiar. He knew that the cat would prove to be a valuable asset to the tribe, and he could see that the bond formed between Naelina and her familiar was strong. The tribesmen, however, were disappointed. They expected a fierce and powerful demon, not a small and cute cat. But the grand elder knew that looks could be deceiving and that this cat would be a formidable force to be reckoned with.
As the ceremony came to an end, the sorcerers dispersed, leaving Naelina alone with her familiar. She knelt down, reaching out to stroke the cat's fur. "Hello, my familiar" Naelina said with a smile "I will call you Shadow."
The cat purred, rubbing its head against her hand. Naelina knew that from now on, Shadow would be her loyal companion, her protector and her source of strength.
After the ceremony, Naelina sat nervously in front of her father, an elder of the Demonic Alliance. She fiddled with her fingers, unsure of how to begin the conversation.
"Father, I want to leave the tribe," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Her father's face hardened, "What do you mean, Naelina? You are the princess of our tribe, you have a duty to lead and protect us."
"I understand that, father, but I have a desire for adventure and exploration. I want to see the world and learn about its secrets," Naelina replied, her voice gaining strength.
"The world is dangerous, Naelina. The Demonic Alliance has thrived for centuries in this desert because we have stayed within the borders our ancestors built. If you leave, you risk not only your own safety but also the safety of our tribe," her father said, his tone heavy with concern.
"I understand that, father, but I am strong and capable. I have trained in our sword technique and I will have Zaru and Shadow with me. I will not be caught off guard," Naelina argued, her determination showing in her eyes.
"I knew that beast-elf wasn't anything good!" said her father who started to get angry.
"Father please!" screamed Naelina.
Her father sighed, "I see the fire in your eyes, Naelina. But know that if you leave, you will be renouncing your position as princess. Are you sure this is what you want?"
Naelina nodded, "Yes, father. I am sure."
Her father nodded, "Then so be it. But know that the Demonic Alliance will always be your home, and we will always welcome you back with open arms."
Naelina smiled, "Thank you, father. I promise to make you proud."
After discussing this with the council, the tribal elders and Naelina's father announced that Naelina would be sent out of the tribe to gain life experience and power, and that she would no longer be considered a princess. This decision was met with mixed reactions from the tribe members, some saw it as Naelina's free choice, while others saw it as a breaking in the traditions.
Naelina, on the other hand, was excited by the opportunity to leave the confines of the tribe and explore the world. She knew that it would be a challenging and dangerous journey, but she was determined to make the most of it. And she was excited to go tell Zaruya.
As she said goodbye to her family and tribe members, Naelina felt a mix of sadness and excitement. She knew that she would miss her loved ones, but she was also eager to see the world beyond the confines of her tribe. Shadow, her familiar, was by her side, providing comfort and reassurance.
"Zaru, I have some news," Naelina said as she saw Zaruya. "My elders have agreed to let me leave the tribe and go on my own journey with you."
"Really? That's great!" Zaruya exclaimed, her eyes lighting up with excitement.
"Yes, and I've been stripped of my duties as a princess," Naelina continued. ". I no longer have to become the leader of the Demonic Alliance."
"That's amazing, and we'll make our own alliance," Zaruya said with a grin. "We'll call it the super powerful explorer duo!" said Zaruya while striking a heroic pose, which made Naelina laugh.
"There's something else," Naelina said, activating her summoning magic and materializing a small black cat. "This is Shadows. He's my familiar, bound to me by magic."
Zaruya's eyes widened as she looked at the cat. "He's so cute! He will be our mascot, because everyone knows that all powerful adventurers have mascots in their teams!"
With Naelina by her side, Zaruya knew that they could face any challenge the desert had to offer. She knew that Naelina's intelligence and capabilities would help them navigate the treacherous terrain and overcome any obstacle. And she also knew that Naelina's presence would provide a sense of safety and comfort for her on the journey.
The journey of their lives was about to begin, and they knew that together, anything was possible. They couldn't wait to set out into the desert and discover all the secrets it held.
