I lay there in complete shock for a few minutes before finally deciding to get up, grab my robe, and head to the bathroom to wash up and fully dressed for the day. I come downstairs to find he left me a note on the counter. "I hope you slept well. See you at the office. I sent up breakfast it's in the warmer. Eat well." He wrote. I picked up my phone to send him a text but decided I would just wait for him to arrive at the office. I walked into the kitchen and helped myself to a very western breakfast of waffles, maple syrup, bacon, scrambled cheese eggs, a side of toast, and coffee with orange juice. I had toast bacon, eggs, and coffee which in itself was a lifesaver. What a morning. I sat on a stool at the island and ate in silence picturing the events like a movie in my mind looking around the room. I still have an hour before the driver arrives to make sure I am 45 minutes early on my first day in the office. I decide to open the blinds to let the sunshine in and watched it transform the room from dark to light. It felt good to be in my new home.
As I eat and sip a second cup of coffee I look outside and see the snow falling slowly and lightly. I guess it's a good thing my first day is casual Friday.
He sends a text saying "Today is casual Friday, for leadership, it's more like casual chic attire though. Per Senior Chairman Tan's standard of conduct." I reply "Roger that. I read the entire employee handbook. Don't worry. I'll be there soon. Breakfast was very much appreciated. Very considerate of you. Thank you." We both smile like teenagers as we stare at our devices. Before heading to the lobby, I leave a note for the lodging staff in gratitude for such a delicious breakfast. After looking over the view, I pep talk myself. I leave for the lobby locking my door by changing the code. The doorman bids me good morning. "You seem a little restless. Did you not sleep well, Miss Macena-Lugo? Good morning." Neils says as he opens the door. "Not too shabby Neils. It's just being here will take some adjusting." I say to him as I sit in the back seat and he closes the door.
Arriving at the office, I go in through the turn-style after coming through the corporate entrance. I step out of the elevator as he enters the hallway and he smiles that damn smile. You know the one. He tilts his head slightly, glances up from the floor with smiling eyes...then... hits you with that damn smile. "Good morning Chairman Tan. Did you rest well?" I ask him maintaining a professional demeanor. "I slept well, Thank you. How about you? And good morning to you as well, Miss Macena-Lugo." He says trying to be professional as well. "Hmmm," I replied as he motioned leading the way to his office. Walking to his office there were some bows in greeting and in passing some whispers. No one hides anything from their "trusted" assistants. They do everything for them, especially their dirty work. So if something goes wrong there's a fall guy. The assistants don't understand the game. They feel like their bosses cannot live without them and don't seem to understand they too have an assistant for a reason...It's not for the reason they think. The executive assistants' secretary, is actually the second-string quarterback just in case they outlive their usefulness to the powers that be.
We enter his office and he motions for me to take a seat on the couch in the waiting area and closes and locks the door. "Please, have a seat, Kyliamira-I-mean Miss Macen-Lugo and I will be right back." He says as he walks behind his floor-to-ceiling bookcase. He comes out with lemon water and a coaster. He sets it on the table. He blinds close to the windows facing in office. He paces a moment. I set my bag down and stand to remove my coat. He gives me a look and rushes over to me cupping my face in his hands as we press our bodies together. "I cannot stop thinking of you, of us. Even in this very moment I still feel you around me." He says passionately breathing heavily. "I'm not going to stop you. If you want me right now, have me-" He interrupts my really good speech and kisses into submission. The world is in slow motion. We carefully take off all our clothes as we head behind the bookcase. There is a bedroom with a closet and clothes steamer box, kitchenette, and full bathroom.
As we lay on the bed he softly guides my legs open and says while kissing up my right thigh and smiling, "My office is soundproof. I have you in a meeting with me undisturbed for 2 hours. So, don't waste a single moment thinking about work." He continues up my thigh to my groin and (Breath). We intertwine for over an hour. Then we showered and were at it again while our clothes steamed. We got dressed and he called for a briefing with the entire team in 3 hours in the Min conference room. This allowed me time to get some actual work done. My American Executive Assistant Sullivan is such a gem. I tracked her for over 6 months before choosing her. She has been Nano-dosed. As her memory fades upon trigger, she will remember her duties, but she will not remember particulars or my face. With the exception of keeping all my money...everything will be a ghost because there will be an accident if things go badly.
We worked on the schematics for the new prototype of the new revolutionary technology that Chairman Tan has been working on for government offices from Law Enforcement to the presidents' offices with different levels of security, of course. I was tasked with getting the schematics and server logistics testing all loopholes and any possible hacking blocks generated and ready for the engineers so they can start building the prototype. The Min Conference Room was designed for presentations. If Pepper had Tony Stark and Shuri's brain...she'd be me. I'm fucking brilliant at what I do. I am the best in the business and have built a reputation as a programmer with damn near impenetrable network maze cyber security skills. Why do I say damn near? If you get past the first firewall, it's because I want access to your system. After I wipe all data and extract what I want, good luck finding someone to pick up the pieces of that tragedy. I had to do my best work for my last gig. This is truly my best work.
As the 3 hours come to a close and we wrap up, he invites me to lunch with the entire team as he helps me with my coat. I had to sign a confidentiality agreement with the rest of my HR paperwork, which allows me to attend meetings in his office so long as my job description doesn't change. "That would be nice to get to know some of the team. How about we order lunch boxes for the meeting instead? I understand Gu-yeon is amazing when it comes to catering and this could build morale with the team during the meeting." I say as he pulls out his phone and sets it all up. "Great idea, done. I sent a memo for everyone to take a quick break. We'll be having a luncheon today during the presentation. Are you going somewhere?" he says now paying closer attention that I am in my coat which he helped me put on. "I am headed to the roof. I just needed a breather. " He smiles that smile and says, "I'll leave you to it." I head to the elevator which takes me to the roof. I walk out onto the balcony and look at the view of the city looks so beautiful dusted with snow. The air is crisp and clean. I relax and listen to the sounds of the city as I breathe in the fresh air and exhale.
I stand overlooking the city from what feels like the top of the world. "I've just about made it through the day. What is the...vibe...that I feel in the presence of this man? These visions...The fuck is happening to me?!" I yell. My phone chimes and it's him. "Is everything ok? I apologize if I've come on too strong. Whatever this is...you feel it too don't you? You have to be as thrown as I am. It's like I can almost feel your wheels turning over this. Am I wrong?" I start to respond "..." is all he sees on his phone. "No. You are not wrong. Let's try to drive our focus on the prototype for now. Can we talk another time? I just need a moment, please." I respond putting my phone away not wanting to see his answer. I could feel it though, his yearning for me. I want him just as bad though. I have to tell him, we have to maintain professionalism in totality at the office. No more private meetings. We can't. I have to slow things down and regroup. Ok, I'm Gucci now.
Heading back inside I stop by his office. The door is open. "You ready boss?" I say while removing my coat. "I'm going to drop my things in my office and head to the conference room to help Sullivan with everything. " I say with a smile and head off as mentioned. After completing the setup and lunch tables. Sullivan and I hand everyone a lunchbox, drink, napkins, and dessert. Everything looks great! The conference room is set up with tables and chairs. Everyone is seated at their assigned seats in alphabetical order. After handing everyone their lunch, I walk in and take a seat at the end. I see Senior Chairman Tan walk into the room and my heart jumps.
"Good afternoon Senior Chairman Tan. I hope you've had a wonderful day thus far. Today we will be presenting the design of our new prototype software for the servers. It is my understanding that this new prototype will be a monumental milestone for your innovative frontrunning company and the country as well." I say bowing to him and ushering him to his seat. "Miss Macena-Lugo, I know you are not the flattering type...so this has made me very happy to hear this. We are going to dominate yet again thanks to you and your team. " He says smiling and shaking my hand. "Thank you, Senior Chairman Tan. I couldn't have done it without the support of your esteemed organization and Chairman Tan." I say as I hold his hand. "So let's begin." He says and holds up his hands for silence. Chairman Tan begins the presentation once the lights are dimmed. His voice is calm and soothing. He moves smoothly from slide to slide. The PowerPoint is filled with charts, graphs, and pictures of the software. He executes the logistics explanation and core security fundamentals effortlessly. As he should.
After the presentation, he answers questions. Some are technical and others are more general. I try my best to answer each question and provide clarity to the concerns expressed by the group. Everyone seemed satisfied with the information provided. By the end of the meeting, I feel like I'd gotten enough rest. Last hour of the day I scheduled a meeting with Sullivan to hatch out details for this week while I sit in my full-body massage chair. Sullivan has her heels off and laying on the couch while she works on her iPad conversion laptop. I asked her how she was doing and she said, "I am fine, but I have an issue. My concern is with the archaic C++ coding the sector next to be revamped is still using. This is probably where that data breach scandal stemmed from. Take a look at this." She says as she walks over to hand me her laptop while I stop the massage chair operating. I see the screen. It's a chart of the C++ code and a line graph showing the number of bugs found per thousand lines of code. "See here, this part is like a black hole. I key in a fix-all and it goes nowhere. It's like trying to get water out of a dry riverbed. They are basically using old outdated hardware. My guess is they haven't upgraded since the 1980s." She says while pointing to the chart.
"Let me take a crack at it, chica," I say keying in my fix-all. "Oh my God, how did you plug all those holes, and make your code disappear." She said in amazement. "I call it invisible ink," I say arrogantly in reply as we high-five. It's simple. I use a series of hidden layers to hide my code. Each layer is a little more complicated than the previous one. Here you have a straightforward, easy-to-understand piece of code that is almost impossible to find by looking at it. Could I tell her that because she's been Nanoed and had to also sign an NDA, yes. Will I though...nah. "Let's call it a night. Sullivan, Great work today. Have a great weekend." I say to her as she locks her laptop in the safe. "You too boss lady. If it ever strikes you to take on as an apprentice, my application remains at the top of the pile." She says as she walks toward my office door. "Thanks, Sullivan. I appreciate it." I say as she heads out. I lock the door and sit down. I have to get this done tonight. I take my Johnnie Walker Gold Label and a glass out of my drawer and unbutton my shirt. Everyone has left our floor and the department is empty. My phone buzzes. It's Jae-Suk. "Care for a cocktail?" I say with a smile as I answer his call.
"Well, we do have reason to celebrate. We received word that our newest prototype is ready for testing. Your office or mine?" He says as he is already in route my way. I'm pretty sure that smile was surfacing. "Yours. Be right there. Johnnie Walker okay?" I say on my way to the door. He turns back toward his office. "He's fun..." I tease with a giggle which he found absolutely adorable. "Yeah bring him along." He says now in his office sitting leaning on the front of his desk facing the door still on the line. His heart beats loudly in his ears and faster in pace as I approach. I open the door and there he is. The sight of him makes my blood boil as I close the door behind me.
"Hey, Boss," I say as he stands up and walks towards me. He kisses me against the door and locks it. "I'm glad you're here." He says kissing me deeply. We are both breathing heavily as he picks me up and carries me to his desk. He sits me down gently as my legs are trembling."How about just-drinks tonight." I say although I really wanna pull his shirt off and take control. He grips my thighs and reluctantly yielded. "Celebratory cheers and good night. Okay." He says as he moves to raise our glasses. There's that energy again. We take our shot and walk to the elevator together. To think we still have to go home next door to one another. I have to gain control of the feeling.
We both get home and say good night. The snowstorm got worse about an hour after we got home. Jae-Suk checks in with his housekeeper and Keku. She is going to stay at the house until the storm passes. Keku will keep her safe. We go all night pushing our limits. There is something about this weather though. This whole thunder and lightning snow-magedon situation are freaking me the hell out. I go into my bedroom and lay down. I didn't realize how tired I actually am. I wake to the sound of the wind howling and thunder shaking the room. I called out in the dark for Jae-Suk. He texted "Tell me the code I'm coming over. You shouldn't be alone with this storm going on. The latch opens and he comes up to my room. The door creaks open slowly as lightning strikes and lights up the sky and the thunder roars. Jae-Suk emerges from the shadows.
See you next episode.
